The main photo for the wayspot must be one you took yourself. (In theory you can use a photo someone else took and gave to you, but you risk them not being entirely truthful about having taken the photo themselves, so in practice this is unsafe). You shouldn’t post the main wayspot photo anywhere…

Yes, I uploaded that photo to our Google Business Profile. I manage it. Sure I could walk outside my office and take a photo with my phone but I had this clear and bright photo at the ready so why not use it. I didn’t realize what would happen.

Niantic considers anything available on a third party site to be a third party photo. Hopefully staff will DM you about this and revoke any strike against your account based on this post.

You will need to provide evidence to Niantic that it is your photo. If you can do this, you may be able to get the strike removed.

Thanks, good to see this is an issue that has previously come up and been resolved as essentially a non-issue. I appreciate the help. In the future I’ll just take the photos with my phone. Honestly was just trying to submit a strong location. Oof!
