This portal is on private property which the public does not have access to.
There are multiple signs up saying that access is restricted and the site is gated because this is a research facility.
How does this level of restriction being an acceptable Wayspot (despite being a quarantined area) differ from a public water tower?
Water workers can enter the fenced enclosure to safely do their job.
Equestrian-scientists can enter the paddock to treat horses.
Which subsets and what conditions make some secure areas okay and others forbidden? Is there a simple litmus test, or does Niantic have a set of primary examples?
Without a logical test or gallery of precedents, every reviewer just makes wild guesses until the dust settles, and we hope their aren’t any anthrax spores in the dust…
Not wild guesses, just judgement calls.
Every situation like this needs assessment. Something like restricted access means that this does not rule out this as a suitable location. It could well fall down on safety, or some other reason that doesn’t make it acceptable.
Passing one wayfarer question doesn’t automatically pass another.
Thanks for the appeal @KovacNZ We took another look at the Wayspot in question and decided that it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time.
