When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Fort Victoria
  • Location (lat/lon): 48.4618,-123.446758
  • City: Victoria
  • Country: Canada
  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): This is the actual location of the wayspot in question - 48.46199284321484, -123.44490426770328
  • It is clearly taken from a car. There is no trail access as the galloping goose is on the side of the highway. This is the sign for Fort Victoria RV park for cars passing by, as well as for historical purposes of where the old Fort Victoria was.

This is the main entrance to the RV park.

This is Google Streetview…

Technically the back side of the fence would be accessible, but also private property for the resident who lives there. The Galloping Goose Trail and the E&N Rail Trail are the two pedestrian paths, but can be seen on google not close to here. Please remove.

Show a secondary photo with the pedestrian access

I was all ready to say you’re wrong on this because that rv park has many entrances and 4 or 6 waypoints within it, your secondary picture clouds which one you were talking about because it’s a picture of the entrance (like you said, but that’s confusing)

The real reason is that waypoint is in the wrong location. I believe it is a valid waypoint and if it were in the right location it would certainly be eligible within it but since Niantic doesn’t give players the ability to move this far I see where you are at a loss.
This should be removed but I think replacing it will be hard. Here is where it is and where it should be using Google maps you can see the fence and outpost.

The wayspot photo showing the sign on the fence and the little castle thingy are definitely on the highway side with no safe pedestrian access (per Google maps). The actual wayspot though is pinned to a trailer spot inside the RV park.

I agree that if the entrance is the real POI, the wayspot needs to be moved and the current photo deleted and replaced with the photo of the red sign.

Thanks for the appeal, @TheOneXanthippe We took another look at the Wayspot in question and decided that it does not meet our criteria for removal at this time. However, we’ve moved the wayspot to the correct location.

This makes no sense. This location is on the highway! There is no sidewalk or trail here! This has been a driveby gym and/or pull over in the middle of the night to take it. How does this not meet criteria. You physically have to trespass where the mobile home is to “touch this spot” and then you are touching the back of the fence not the sign or cross the highway!
There are enough wayspots here that we do not need one that is physically on the Island Highway.
@NianticAtlas Please explain how you think you can “Safely Access It”

Yes there are many entrances and wayspots already. The real reason is the wayspot has no safe access. Have you gone to this site? Just an FYI you cannot. There is no sidewalk or trail access. This is a major highway. The E&N Rail Trail runs through the RV park.

That is the closest pedestrian access. Just because maybe you could walk along the edge of the highway does not mean it is accessible. Since that is actually dangerous.
Maybe I should take photos?! I would need to be up really early and park on the road

I have to agree with the OP, the move you did made it WORSE! Now the wayspot is along side a major highway with no pedestrian access. Hope no one gets splatted trying to get to it!

I reported the new location via the game as not accessible. It was denied again, no surprise. But I went on the Wayspot Removal form and sent them more information about the site. The camping sites don’t even extend to this corner. They are for long term residents. In the end, Niantic has removed the wayspot as it is on a major highway. I found the removal form under Pokemon reporting has a better drop down list. Where it isn’t as clear in the ingress reporting.
