Invalid Wayspot - Robert Gross Park Field

  • Wayspot Title: Robert Gross Park Field
  • Location (lat/lon): Ingress Intel Map / 34.191224,-118.340487
  • City: Burbank, CA
  • Country: USA
  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any):

The wayspot is a random spot inside two marked baseball fields (that are already wayspots), would interfere with sporting activities, and is pretty much a duplicate of one of the fields.

Here’s the wayspot:

Here’s one baseball field:

Here’s the other baseball field:

Also please note that a baseball field is not just the diamond or the infield - it’s also the outfield which can vary in dimensions according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baseball_field:

Please remove the wayspot. Leaving it would encourage players to make up fields within existing fields that also would interfere with sports activities.

***Mod Edit to remove personal information and also irrelevant information.

@elijustrying Should I also cross out any names off portals? Is it also personal and irrelevant information?

Those contain the official name of the park, so are fine :sunglasses:
A full explanation is in a DM

No, I am not talking about the names of portals. I am talking about screenshots that I posted before that showed names of Ingress players who captured portals or who submitted photos for portals. I found multiple instances where I did that. None of them were edited. No one ever said that it was not OK to reveal such information, even though such information is technically public, whether you use general definition of public or Niantic’s definition of public.

Also, it’s unclear to me why you removed 2 other screenshots that I provided as examples. I start to feel like I am being targeted, no matter what I say or how I say it.

Considering two screenshots I posted were completely removed, I am posting them again with hopefully better explanations of why I added them.

What I originally said was this (if I remember correctly):

Please remove the wayspot. Leaving it would encourage players to make up fields within existing fields that also would interfere with sports activities, for example here:

Or here:

While I was looking at the map to take screenshots of the same areas that were on the deleted screenshots, I found another area:

And the point of the screenshots of these areas was this:

If the wayspot in question is not removed, it will encourage players to go to areas like these, where you have multiple fields and wayspots for each field, and nominate a random spot as yet another separate field when it actually isn’t a separate field.

We may not consider them a deliberate attack at first, but over time, we gain a clearer understanding of user intentions. That said, this could still be a misinterpretation. To avoid any issues, please refrain from sharing information in a way that could be perceived as shaming other users publicly. If you need to report abuse, please use the appropriate channels.

As for your appeal, I’ve flagged it to our concerned team and will share our decision as soon as we have an update. Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks for the appeal, @Itsutsume After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to retire the Wayspot in question.

This post about other locations is speculative and not based on facts about the appealed wayspot.
It is irrelevant to the appeal.
Appeals should be based on factual information about the location in question and about criteria.

Sorry, but I have no control of how what I post might be perceived.

It is based on facts that players submit things similar to what they see as already existing wayspots.

Also, it’s mind-boggling that someone who has no say in Niantic’s decisions can decide what is and is not relevant in an appeal.

Isn’t it Niantic that needs to refrain from leaking Ingress player’s names?

It would never occur to me to self-censor a screen capture to avoid sharing info that is already available in public.

Of course it would be wrong for us to ridicule or name-call in a public forum, but if sharing a public-facing product from your game is wrong, the entire onus is on you, for leaking your users’ in-game names in the first place.

Does it mean you consider them a deliberate attack now? If yes, will you edit those screenshots, too? If no, why do you not consider them a deliberate attack but consider the edited screenshot a deliberate attack?
