Invalid wayspot: unsafe LFL

Sorry, in my area the curb is part of the street. There is no sidewalk, no walkway, no path, just street. In fact it’s two drainage grates. So if your argument is that there is a place there where pedestrians were intended to be, I disagree vehemently.

I think the decision was really unsupportable and evidence to back up their reasoning is simply lacking. I guess you could climb up in the planter as you said. Bet the homeowner’s would love that. Unfortunately they got this one totally worn, but they’re digging their heels in.

I understand your point. There is place to stand to the left, right and behind the LFL. Whilst the space is small, and there is a droped kerb, the pedestrians have the right of way over cars. And we can only hope that the players make space to allow people to go past, if needed.

No. This area is not a place to stand. There is no point in arguing any more, but this is incorrect.

I didn’t submit and appeal because of SFPRP. I submitted because it is unsafe.

And it is unsafe by Niantic’s own criteria mentioned in the Clarification Collection:

And I think this LFL is inline with the example in that post.

Sorry about that muddying the discussion. I said I was upset since I just had a report for one on SFPRP rejected, and they took it to mean I was saying this one was SFPRP. I was not. I had just done a report on a duplicate that was rejected, and that is what I meant by “also.” Not a good day for explorers trying to do the right thing today.

I am so disheartened that they originally made the correct decision to remove this one for lack of safe pedestrian access and then reversed that. But they had already made the reversal before I said anything.

How dare you be upset! Slams table

I agree, I see lots of tasty sidewalk.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say… “You don’t need to stand in the street to interact with this POI” Standing on the sidewalk is actually the recommended place to interact with POI’s. There I said it.

Except the side walk is like 5 feet behind the LFL blocked by the planter. The LFL is on the street. I mean if being able to interact with a way spot, not go up to it, was the criterion, then you can stand across the street, but I didn’t think that was the criterion.

OK, challenge for you. Copy and paste the criteria that says you have to be able to touch it. I honestly want to read it with my own eyes.

Most of that “tasty sidewalk” is in a driveway or private drive. It is safe to cross but not a place to stand.

It’s very hard to find a sidewalk that doesn’t cross driveways. Does anybody actually believe that sidewalks are unsafe or lack pedestrian access?

As you already know, the word “touch” is not used. That is because being in the vertical plane is allowed. The wording used is “at.”

  • Place the pin at the real life location of the object you are nominating
  • Place the pin along the edge or entrance of large objects such as buildings and sports fields. Placement should ideally be at the natural point of approach, such as a gate or door
  • Place the pin at the base of overhead objects
  • Keep in mind, the location needs to be safe and accessible, even if the access is restricted to employees or people with special access rights.

Clarification on a :+1: LFL

Italics are mine.

I still stand behind on, that standing on the grate is not standing on the road.

Well @NianticAaron has spoken and that’s good enough for me. It doesn’t meet the criteria for removal. #caseclosed

At the risk of repeating myself …. And before anyone gets over excited….

This is the decision for this appeal and applies to this appeal only.

You do if you want to use the LFL for inserting and removing books. And the clarification that Niantic wrote it about. Not about where one might stand to interact with it as a wayspot in some game.

Posts of often used as precedence.
