For what it’s worth, my own experience (long-term) with the map is that when I enter a location (e.g., 48.357649, 10.762156), the map pans to that location then immediately reverts to my home location. When I re-do the location (click on the co-ordinates and press enter), it pans to that location and then stays there, behaving correctly.
I tested moving from submission review to map and it was basically the same behaviour. The map showed the correct location until I panned it, at which point it jumped to my home location as you describe. When I then re-did the location (click on the co-ordinates and press enter), it behaved correctly.
The first time you are going to the location, it is moving you to the new location and changing the zoom. The zoom change associated with this causes the bug to occur and your map resets to your home location, but keeps the new zoom level.
The second time you are going to that location, it moves you to that location but the zoom doesn’t change (as you already were set to that zoom last time). Because there was no change to the zoom level, the bug does not occur and you are not reset. But, if you zoom in or out, you will be reset back to home.
Every time you zoom in or out, the URL changes. This was introduced in the new Wayfarer version which rolled out last week.
As zooming in/out is a key required for this bug to occur, it may be related to how the page responds to the URL change when zooming in and out, as opposed to the zoom itself. However, my testing shows that a review has to be completed first, so not sure exactly what is going on.
For me, once I have been sent back to home, it doesn’t then send me back again as long as I stay on the map - I can freely zoom and pan. If I switch to reviewing and then back to the map, I get sent home again just the once.
