Neither.
I am stating that there is a problem in the process at NIA, where one or more of their employees that deal with reports/appeals etc in my area, is not acting in good faith.
Thank you for clearing this up. Maybe you and Aaron can discuss via DM.
You would be wrong to think that.
Quite frankly, I think this is a ridiculous claim.
You’re clearly an Ingress player. Based on the behavior I have seen some (not all) Ingress players exhibit, I think it is likely that someone told a tall-tale about having access to get things approved or to stop removals from happening.
But what I think is far more likely to have happened is that you have run into the same problem that all of us have when trying to get things removed from the gameboard. It’s purposefully difficult to get things removed to keep people from manipulating it.
At some point this year, PGO added the ability to write a brief supporting statement to prove why something should be removed. Since adding that, I personally have not had any trouble getting things removed from the gameboard. I think Ingress has added this just within the last few weeks - but I’m not sure (I will research and come back to edit this post - see Cyndie’s screenshot later for proof).
Historically, I found it impossible to get anything removed. We Ambassadors worked with the Wayfarer team to help make that process easier, or at least easier to understand.
Step 1. Try to remove it through your game. (Additional support statement should make this easier.)
Step 2. If that fails, you can try to remove it through Help Chat - the orange bubble in Wayfarer. This allows you to provide photo evidence and have more of a conversation about why the wayspot should be removed. Your logic for removal should be based solely on Wayfarer criteria. No game logic matters.
Step 3. Removal through forms linked at the top of this forum:
a. Property Owner form. Though this form tells you that you should be the property owner, anyone can use it to have a wayspot removed. I use this form quite often to removed spots located on school grounds when I see them pop up. Again, you can upload photo evidence and write a narrative about why the wayspot should be removed.
b. Abuse form. I don’t use this one because abuse is not really a problem in my area. If you have evidence that one or more wayspots were approved through abuse, use this form.
Step 4. If all those other methods fail, you can state your case on the forum to get another look.
This is a serious allegation. While there may be errors in the reviews like any other system involving humans, alleging that the team is acting in bad faith is not cool. I find it demeaning and derogatory.
Please provide evidence in support of your claim/allegation. I’m going to start a DM with you just in case you do not feel comfortable sharing it in public. If I do not hear back in next 24 hours, I’ll have to add a note to these comments suggesting that they were mere allegations without any shred of evidence.
I think you are too willing to dismiss any chance that the system may be flawed at the NIA level.
Each of your replies seems to attempt to suggest I am getting it wrong, rather than looking at what has been claimed.
But it’s just random claims with no evidence. How am I supposed to “look at it?”
People can type all kinds of wild things on the internet. Unless they can back up those claims, I have no reason to believe them when they contradict my (and everyone else’s) direct experience with Wayfarer.
Critical thinking is an essential skill that people need to apply to random claims and assertions they see and hear.
This is why we have people who believe the earth is flat in a time when it’s VERY easy to prove that it’s not.
Hi everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to share your insights and offer help. However, given the direction this discussion has taken, I’ll be closing this thread to further comments.
Thank you for your understanding.
