Why are Little Free Libraries in Australia being rejected by reviewers? There seems to be some confusion around property boundaries. In most cases, the land up to the fence line, mailbox, and nature strip is council-owned, meaning these libraries are placed on public land, not private property. Shouldn’t that make them eligible for approval?
That is on the fence so not eligible.
Here is the official criteria…
I’m not entering private property to get the book it’s on public space. So the same should go for wayfarer POI.
It is about where the object is located and not where you may be.
The rules around single family private residential property were derived out of a legal settlement.
I’d like to add that while this one isn’t eligible, some LFLs are eligible. I always use the supplemental details section (in the web editor, where it’s easier to type) to provide evidence that a LFL is not on SFPRP. I also link to the criteria clarification for LFLs to make it easier for reviewers.
