Can I nominate a little library on the next to the sidewalk(There is a little peice of grass between the street and the sidewalk)?

The only problem is that i am not sure if the area i want to plant my library on is public or private.

I wanted to put the free library onto the verge but I am not sure if it would qualify as on the public property rule. I also have no photos as I have not started, but I live in San Jose near miller middle school

It’s in the public right of way, so can be accessed without trespassing. I would argue that doesn’t meet the spirit of the rule, but that’s ultimately up to Niantic and or your reviewers. I have seen such LFL’s approved.

Another point is that “private property” is not actually the rule (although that’s the phrase used in rejections). The rule actually says, specifically, single family houses. If it’s private property that is not a single family house….

Little Free Libraries (LFL) can be eligible for nomination, but their location is critical to whether they can be accepted. Little Free Libraries with safe access on sidewalks outside of apartment buildings or on municipal or communal property are eligible. My personal rule of thumb for these is that I won’t submit an LFL in front of someone’s home that would require documentation to prove the property does not belong to them. Someone who invited people to share books did not invite them to battle Team Rocket or raid bosses.
