Local Card Shop Nomination Rejected

Hello everyone, Im looking for some insight on why my local card store nomination was inelligible. It is a place that sells Pokemon Cards, hosts TCG tournaments (such as challenges and league events), and is a great place that the community hangs out at. Most of the Local Card Shops have pokestops and Im not sure why this one was rejected, would anyone be able to help inform me of why it might be rejected? Thanks!

@Rangasamy welcome to the forum!

It would help if you share the picture/nomination text, so people can provide you with feedback on it. (and potentially its’ location, but that might be to personal to share)

Because indeed that sounds like a good location for a wayspot, but there could have been other factors that made the community reject it. Additionally your Wayfarer contribution management should show you what the top rejection reasons were.

This is what I used as the submission, photos and description.

The description does not mention all you mentioned in the topic, so the social aspect about regular tournaments etc I would definitely mention in the description.

Even though the game tells you you are nominating pokestops, in reality you are submitting wayspots, which may or may not turn out to be pokestops. This supporting text would be better if it is more focused on why it meets the wayfarer criteria.

I agree that the nomination could be improved, but I am not sure why it was rejected for “Wayfarer criteria”. If the email said “our team” and the rejection was around 24 hours after the nomination was submitted, then it was probably rejected by Niantic’s ML (machine learning ai) model. Possibly a daytime photo would be easier for it to detect as something eligible?

If you are only interested in getting a Pokestop, the address on your nomination is not eligible to become one, even if the Wayspot is accepted. It is in the same level 17 S2 cell as this portal Poke Verse LLC (I said “portal” because I am looking at a map of portals, not of all Wayspots.)

I know that Google estimates the address, so if the store is actually in the corner, it could be eligible to appear in PoGo.

If you are unfamiliar with how Pokemon Go uses S2 cells, this is a good article:

And just to be clear, NEVER use knowledge of S2 cells to misplace your nomination. That is abuse and can/will get you banned in your game, not just from Wayfarer.

I’ll just add that “Local Card Shop” isn’t needed for the title. This is info that you include in the description, and others have already provided some good info on how to improve that. Just being a shop that sells cards for TCGs doesn’t say that this is a great place to be social at, exercise at, or explore, which all Wayspots must meet one of.

Pokémon TCG can be mentioned for a nomination such as this, as this shop sells the cards and possibly other gear. If they mentioned in the title/description something about catching Pokémon or some other game-centric term, that’s influencing.

This was rejected by ML, so no reviewer saw it (Wayfarer criteria is the rejection reason). It may see just the lone mention of Pokémon as influencing, but if the description may have said Pokémon TCG is sold here, then it looks better, as it’s most specific to which Pokémon product is available at this location.

I would not use an interior photo for the supporting photo, as you need to show the place marker, which is the outside sign, with the surrounding area. The interior doesn’t help to place the shop in this location whatsoever. You never know if there is even Street View at any POI you nominate, or if Street View is up-to-date, so showing the place marker for the POI or the POI itself with the surrounding area will help ML/reviewers with locating it.

It’s ok to mention Pokémon in terms of other products, like TCG, which the shop most likely sells. When we speak of games here, we are talking about Niantic games, which Pokémon TCG is not a part of.

What would be influencing is if terms from PoGo, Ingress, or other Niantic games are used, like how the supporting info has Pokestop and PoGo in it.
