I have been sending pokestops to certain locations and they say they’re wrong.but they are right.why not approve?
Welcome to the forum @lvhilfe !
Wayfarer can be frustrating until you learn the ropes, then a lot of fun once you get a better understanding of it. I encourage you to post screenshots of a rejected nomination so we can help you see where it might have gone wrong.
Meanwhile, I have this written up to tell any new reviewers mentioning submitting “pokestops”
I know the prompt tells you that you are submitting a “Pokestop” but you are actually submitting a Wayspot to the Lightship database, which can only become a Pokestop or gym if it is alone in a level 17 S2 cell. This is a good article about S2 cells and PoGo: https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/
I hope we can help you to become successful!
To add to what Cyndie said, Wayfarer has very specific criteria. It takes a while to learn it. Not everything that exists is eligible to be a Wayspot. Take a look at Criteria Clarification Collection to see the way places and items are assessed.
So two things immediately jump out at me:
-
you have taken a picture of a random brick pillar. This doesn’t meet the eligibility criteria of being a great place to socialise, exercise or explore.
-
your photos have a mark in the corner that shows which kind of phone they were taken on. Having any kind of watermark or other identifier like that on a photo makes it ineligible. When you do find something eligible, you’ll want to ensure this setting in your phone’s camera app is disabled.
Can you show us what the rejection reasons were from your contributions page? We might be able to explain those specifically.
Like @hankwolfman said, having the watermark is a rejection reason.
I take my photos first before I begin my nomination and look at them in my gallery to be sure there isn’t anything in there that will make the nomination be rejected, like a watermark, my thumb, a license plate, etc. I can crop the photo if needed.
I also agree with him that this does not appear to meet criteria as stated here: Niantic Wayfarer
Make sure to read all those pages. There are also criteria clarifications for some types of nominations you can find either on the forum listed separately or listed all together there: Niantic Wayfarer
You may have seen similar items as accepted game locations, but you can’t always just submit what you see in game. You have to be able to explain how it meets at least one of the criteria of exercise, exploration, or being social. If you can’t, then you probably shouldn’t submit it.
Your description says “free place for children and adults to walk and have picnicking,” but I don’t see anything about this column that encourages either. You also hurt your nomination by using the supporting section to say why this would be good for Pokemon Go players. You are submitting a Wayspot, not a Pokestop.
Another thing you could do to make your nomination look better is to use proper capital letters. I also like to drop them in my regular messages, but it is important to look like a quality Wayspot when trying to get reviewers to vote for it.
I hope this doesn’t come across as too much all at once. We are glad you are here to learn!
most explorers would consider mailboxes as just infrastructure. a place to pick up mail, not a place to meet up and hang out or exercise
however, if this is an information board, you might have better luck with it:
i would not try submitting with all the christmas stuff since “seasonal” is a rejection reason, but people may go to an information board to find out about events in the community, and that could meet the criteria for exploration and/or being social.
I was thinking the same thing after seeing those pictures. Assuming it is an information board, it would stand a much better chance than the mailboxes.
agree
I would accept the info boards, as they inform the community of upcoming events, reminders of HOA rules or when trash/recycling is picked up, etc. These boards meet the explore criteria for me.
So, focus more on the info boards and what they provide to the community. As for photos, being these are on the sides of mailboxes, either portrait or landscape closer up to the info board would be better. Being the info boards are longer than they are in height, I might opt for a landscape photo that’s centered on the board.
I have no issues with the seasonal decor, just as long as you note in the supporting info that these are permanent info boards, and maybe include in the description that the info is updated on a regular basis. I nominated a taco place in October that had a Halloween themed message on their sign, and it was accepted. It’s a permanent sign, and these boards are permanent as well.
Just remember that in your supporting photo to show the POI being nominated within the area, not just the surrounding area. PoGo says to take a photo of the surrounding area, and it really should be reworded to note it should include the POI within the surrounding area.
I did not mean that the seasonal decoration would disqualify the nomination, but that it might make it harder to get it past reviewers. ty for making clear that seasonal decor on a permanent point of interest is acceptable.
I like the seasonal photo I bet the rest of the year it’s boring😂 but I’m not based in USA
In terms of crop a square photo seems to work well
Take it straight on so as to keep as much of the house out as that is distracting. Once you have taken it crop it so it ends up square and aim to have the info board in the middle. This helps with how it appears in games.
Your supporting info can draw attention to the fact it’s official - lockable - and that it’s regularly updated.
Your supplementary had the right idea maybe a bit closer. I often take them in landscape. If it’s viewable on streetview there is no issue. If not explain what key points the reviewer can see on satellite to help confirm.
You’ve now had a lot of great info and ideas I hope all this helps.
