Welcome to the community! I hope we can help explain what happened. Memorial benches are frequently accepted in error, but this clarification shows that they are not eligible unless for a significant member of the community.

Seating Benches

Memorial benches can only be eligible under the criteria for exploration if they are dedicated to a notable figure and that notability is described in the nomination. Mass produced memorial benches dedicated to friends and family are not eligible unless the nominator provides evidence of the individual’s importance to the community. I think the not “Distinct” rejection was trying to tell you “This is just a bench.” I don’t know what other rejection reasons were used, but unless you can present evidence of this person’s significance to the community, I would not try to resubmit or appeal.
