From what I can see, I believe this was correctly rejected. See this clarification:
I found this about him when searching him:
Should I resubmit and include this in the supporting description?
I had just pulled up that obituary, too, to see if I could make suggestions for improving the nomination. But I don’t really see anything there to sell the nomination.
If you are determined to get this in game, you could ask around at the golf course. That is not where I usually see memorial benches, and someone there may have the story behind it that makes it significant.
I think there’s additional context, too. Why is this memorial bench in the golf course? Was he a renowned golfer or committed and well respected by the course? No. More likely, the family wanted to make a donation to a place he enjoyed. A memorial bench is really a private donor bench and not a monumentous memorial.
Also, being a golf course, there may be dissent in whether or not it can be safely accessed without interrupting game play.
The golf course clubhouse could qualify. Maybe a practice green near the clubhouse, or statue in the parking lot. Maybe the clubhouse has a restaurant with amazing view.
But not a fundraiser memorial bench (or other object).
Excellent point.
Also, more likely to be other intersting things (actual monuments, art, placards) at the clubhouse or member registration buildings that wouldn’t interfere with game play. Definitely an area worth checking out.
