ML Auto-Decision Issue

I am trying to sort out your points.

Updating existing Wayspots needs to be easier and more straightforward.

There needs to be more clarity on what meets criteria, because Wayspots are being accepted that should not be.

Is that right?

Actually we should move this conversation to What do you want Wayfarer to bring in 2025? 🎆

I think they also want Wayspots they have gotten approved in PoGo, and may not know fully about the density/inclusion rules for the games, or want to edit Wayspot that once were in PoGo, but due to the rules are no longer.

@boozillamom What we are actually dong is creating Wayspots. Approved Wayspots get added to the Spatial map, which is used for game play locations in all Niantic games (Power Spots are an exception here), as well as developers of other apps and games. Each Niantic game uses their own density/inclusion rules to determine which Wayspots appear in-game. PoGo uses S2 cells, while Ingress has a 20 meter rule.

More info on S2 cells can be found here: https://pokemongohub.net/post/featured/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/

So, it may be that you want to update a Wayspot that is no longer in PoGo, and yes, this can be hard to do, especially if you don’t play Ingress, or the Wayspot just isn’t in any of the games. Like previously noted, you are free to share what you’d like to see in the thread that Cyndie posted. Please feel free to share your thoughts on general Wayfarer improvements there, as this thread is for the ML auto-decision known issue that is still ongoing.

@NianticTintino @NianticAaron can we have an ETA when will eMiLy issue be fixed?

Considering the last update was right before xmas, and the holidays arent over yet, im sure a timeline hasnt really materialized yet.

Oh right, I forgot about the holiday. :man_facepalming:

So this just happened.

ML auto-accepted this title edit I did yesterday, in less than 24 hours. I know it’s just an edit, but maybe things are starting to get back on track.

Edits were not affected during all this so this would have 0 indication of getting back on track. Hopefully we get an update soon though.

Will Emily automatically process the queue once she’s fully back online, or only for new submissions going forward? I’ve got a list of like 20 that I want to submit, but I’d prefer a chance of having Emily look at them since my human review submissions are months in queue…

I would not expect the ML model to work the same way it has been in the past even when/if it does returning to accepting nominations. You do you, but those nominations can’t be decided if you never submit them. You can earn upgrades to get them through voting faster by reviewing yourself.

As to the original question, my guess is that nominations have already gone through the ML filter, since we know some are being rejected, so I would not expect it to pick nominations it has already sent into community review. But I am not Niantic, and am not an ambassador for Niantic with an NDA to keep me from revealing anything I might know.

ML seems broken now. All I see are bad ML rejections.

The latest example is an outdoor gym

ML hasn’t been auto-accepting nominations since the end of November, but has been auto-rejecting since about the beginning of December. Hence why this is a known issue; it hasn’t been fully resolved yet.

An outdoor gym would be a great place to exercise, but there could be more to your nomination that caused ML to reject. Feel free to post screenshots of your nomination in the Nomination Support thread, and we’d be glad to take a look for you.

I’m aware ML is only doing rejection. My points is that it is making many wrong decisions to reject.

Nothing wrong with my submission, so no need to share. I have been doing this way longer than Emily…

There’s not need to be disrespectful. We’re just trying to help here.

ML is still not acting quite right, as we haven’t gotten an update from staff for awhile. Hopefully one will come soon.

Giving you information is not disrespectful. I simply informed you

I would be interested to see what ML rejected that it shouldn’t have. But understand if you don’t want to share. I hope you are appealing a rejection that was bad, since it is supposed to learn from decisions.

Agree to disagree, but your last sentence is not very respectful. I don’t know how long you have been a Wayfarer, and I’m just trying to assist.

I understood your intention was to help those unfamiliar with the system so informed you that I am an experienced wayfarer.

If you find information disrespectful, I would suggest that is a you issue.

I agree that we disagree.

ML doesn’t have any feelings anyone can hurt… so we should be free to criticise and comment about the shortcomings of the system without being told that the cricitisms isn’t respectful. If a contributor was being rude and disrespectful towards the staff, Ambassadors or other members, I could see a point about it being disrespectful.

@KeyserSoze to help the rest of us learn. Would you share the nomination.

Just that it helps us with our own submissions and reviews when these are shared. Particularly when people say their submission was perfect but rejected.

I know for me I would love to learn from this example. I questioned a fitness station this morning. And now you raised this I wonder if there is an angle I was missing (which is often the case for me!)

Thanks!!

Yeah… I now wish I had taken a couple… I mean it is good to see eMiLy has not rejected.

But it is now taking longer. I would love to know since eMiLy came on stream did the number of reviewers drop. Now eMiLy off line does that mean the queue is way way longer.

I know upgrades worked really well. Currently I have one in queue and it remains in queue even though older than some now in voting. I could use upgrades. But I am not fussed and just watching how it all plays out

I know I am reviewing heaps. But due to the quality I wonder if I am pushing out the review times as I am at odds to other reviewers…So the queue grows
