Hi @Liverlouike15
Thanks for the update.
These are always going to be tough. There is also the question that if you get one or two in then the others will be not unique.
I do think its worth a try to focus on the ironwork more than the function of the object.
So a change of title for a starter.
You have got a good photo of the CH and its nice and clear what it is.
You could try an appeal if you have one available and see how that goes.

While you have one accepted. Well done. I would say this. The pdf document you have provided also has zero evidence of age of the gate. Yes it is featured in a discovery document.
The PDF document was used to help create this webpage Historic Ironwork - Abingdon on Thames Town Council ā it is important to click on the Long description⦠But here is the kicker⦠And read the article. None of your nominations here - including the one accepted can be reliably marked as pre1900 or none of them are listed (graded listings anywhere)
you have used a source article that was used to create the final website (it was the discovery document for the final publication). That is fully publically accessible on the Abingdon website - see link ⦠It clearly calls out what can be reliably identified.
@elijustrying Not listed. Not original. Not historic. And the Abingdon Area Archeological and History Society have acknowledged this on the official history section of the Local Government District website. Probably should not have passed. Emily needs some training ma haha hahahaha⦠I wish more local governments did effective history relationships like abingdon have done!!!
@Liverlouike15 I would probably not make too much noise. Seems you got a lucky pass. As I say in reply to your other post. Use the website. It has some great nomination material. Use grade listing if existing (bottom of website has good supporting material). Avoid anything with someone living in it. And good luck.

Thank you for your detailed reply.
I did make contact with both the clerk of Christās Hospital and the town councilās Archivist, but they were unable to shed any definitive light on when the gates were installed other than an agreement to install two in different locations, which were subsequently relocated. This is why I had removed the original reference to them being installed in the Victorian era in my resubmission description. I did think that the only old photographic evidence shows them visible alongside other pre-war railings that were removed might lend them sufficient historic interest.
I had not fully appreciated the relationship between the .pdf and the website. I had focussed on the .pdf because it contained more items. A lot of the other interesting material is now on residential property, but when I went through it previously discounting any residential ones, I hadnāt fully appreciated the distinction between single family residence and apartments / flats.
A secondary issue is that most of these are in town centre locations and were close to existing wayspots, but worth another look.

I love the boot scrapers
There are tools that show the grids for nomination etc. I donāt use them but others can suggest. Maybe they will help. What about the GWR benches?
And existing wayspots. That is fine. Many a building has been nominated for the windows, plaques, building itself, clock etc etc. And each accepted as a POI⦠Seems to depend on how the POI nomination is written. So there is that angle for you.
And sure I play PGO but I nominate as a wayfarer. So knowing it gets accepted by the community and contributes to the overall knowledge is good. And if in other games sweet. Goes both ways. I have many a successful nom not in PGO. . And the practice of fine tuning those nominationsā¦

I have a nomination in the queue for the GWR bench in Albert Park, second attempt after I didnāt show the monogram clearly enough first time round. The Stratton Way bench has been removed (no reply from OCC when I emailed them about its whereabouts) and I think the Abbey Gardens one has been refurbished.
I have been thinking about this again and was wondering that where a feature is of sufficient interest relative to its surroundings to merit exploration then should it really matter that it isnāt original or that the installation / construction date canāt be proven by the submitter? In my opinion the monograms are a point of interest in this locality regardless of whether Christās Hospital installed them 150 years ago, 100 years ago or even 10 years ago.
