Hi, I am having trouble with a nomination of a Grade II Listed, 16th century house in my area. The building while it may look like a single family residence has been split up into 3 separate flats (I have tried to make this as clear as possible). This is shown in my supporting photo as there are multiple buzzers for each flat. Other than the buzzers I cannot find any other evidence to prove these are flats. This nomination has been rejected 3 times for private residence as well as rejected upon appeal for the same reason. I have had many similar submissions accepted in the past so why is this one different? Am I wrong in assuming it’s eligible?
I think it’s one of those things that is technically eligible, but with these small properties converted into flats I’d feel a bit uncomfortable standing on that pathway.
It’s located along a public pathway so you wouldn’t have to actually walk onto the property but I see what you mean
Your main image doesn’t scream Tudor to me, but then, reviewers don’t always make sense because I had a tudor hotel rejected for temporary/not distinct and then again on appeal for not being culturally important, but got it accepted 2nd time with different images at least -so I would say evaluate the submission to see how different images can improve it and if you can make it easter to accept. In my example, I had to go back a different day when the courtyard was open and that gave me better pictures - but actually I had thought zooming in on the sign initially would be good? It wasnt
This was how I managed the apartment thing with a much newer house
I would try to take your main image at a different angle, less gate, possibly let us see the roof (hopefully its beautifully wonky) and the window detailling better? Might help?
It’s a tough one. Whilst you can reach it from public, it’s a case of would the residents appreciate people assembling outside their property whilst doing a Pogo Raid or an Ingress event (whatever it may be). I get it isn’t a SFPRP, but I would ask is this property really worth a nomination? I would struggle here.
I think it can be worth a nomination. Niantic is cool with 40 players at a power spot at someone’s house, so why not make it a portal or stop too
I think the “proper” logic is that residents and guests may interact with the PoI and others with access would too, and anyone else just has to interact with something else
Power Spots are the thing of nightmares. I wish one would spawn in my back garden!! But I don’t think the Power Spots were supposed to appear on PRP deliberately and that someone didn’t clean up the anomolies…
My neighbour aparrently runs a tailoring company, so there’s one near me on the neighbours house that I can get from home. They aren’t a tailor. No one is. None of the house power spots here are real. They’re all out of date
Thanks for your help! I will try to see if I can get a better photo with a new angle. I think the reason this building doesn’t instantly look Tudor is because it was refurbished around the 1700s to be more safe and well made. The design was still kept the same as it was from the Tudor period just with an updated roof and brick work.
Yeah definitely see if you can highlight the best bits with a new image
I realised after I submitted the tudor hotel the 2nd time that my first submission had been bad in comparison. Still think it was an annoying rejection though.
I hope you manage this one. I love old architectural features and bits of history in nominations
This is true but the same can be said for other eligible wayspots such as restaurants, cafes and some post offices which all have (at least in my area) an upstairs housing location. I can understand your point though and it’s definitely a factor that could stop this being accepted. Thanks for your help!
That particular scenario is different. Restaurants people generally go in for a meal, so it’s a place of interest. The same with Post Offices and Cafes. Not all Restaurants and Cafes are eligible, but when they meet the criteria…
I don’t want to discourage you from nominating the property, but there needs to be more to it to make it interesting other than it just being Grade II Listed C16th Building. If it was, let’s say, a Shakesphere home that was built around the time he lived there, an argument could be made, as people would probably visit it out of curiousity.
Mine wasn’t even listed, just had some cool carvings on it seemed enough
It got accepted? Right… I’m calling the Niantic Feds!!!
Personally I enjoy going around my town and visiting the unique historic buildings, even if they may not exactly be something that is as important as Shakespeares home. I find the different styles and history behind the building to be something that encourages exploration. Not everyone will have the same view as me but I think because I’m local to the area I find it quite interesting to learn about the history that came before me.
Accepted on appeal-I showed it further up. Pretty building! Found a 130 year old map showing the house as it was then, surrounded by fields!
