I am seeking clarification on how to treat nominations for different sports that are played on the same sporting field (but played at different times on the year). For example, there are wayspots on a nearby sporting field that are for cricket, football and soccer (i.e. three different sports played on the same sporting field).
Is it safe to assume that when reviewing such nominations, that the decision on whenever or not to approve is based upon the individual sports and not the actual sporting field?
My issue would be if I could find distinct visual anchors for each sport type. We could help more with a screen snip of what you are looking at.
We have a lot of fields here labeled “open” or “multi-purpose” that I would not accept as separate nominations for different sports. But I think @OldDirtyBard had an example of this where it could be acceptable separately.
Multisport fields ae not uncommon where I’m from. An American football field can be used as a soccer field, baseball and softball, etc. Usually there is something that does placemark the field, even if it isn’t for any of the sports, like a field number or letter at a large complex.
An open field is hard to get through as any kind of sports field, so it is important that there by some kind of placemarker. It might not be a goal or backplate, but a sign with a name, number, or letter. The placemarker is more important to me than how many sports can be played on the field when reviewing.
This is easy and yet complex. I was under the impression that one playing with multiple sports is one nomination. A group of distinct separated playing fields can be individual nominations.
In theory. Niantic Criteria indicate that a multisport field be nominated as a multisport field - listing the sports.
This is a common problem from the UK to Australia. And each nomination waits for the sport season or when council changes goal posts. So one field ( the same field) has nominations for cricket , football , rugby field and if Australian - AFL/NRL as well etc etc. And people walk to other side of the pitch and nominate that “goal post”.
I quote from Niantic and see if that helps
Sports fields and athletic fields encourage exercise and socialization and are often good places to explore. It is important to choose a pin placement that respects and does not interfere with the sporting activity. See the image below for guidance. For sports fields with multiple points of play, there should be one nomination to encapsulate the entire field.
When I review. I err on the side of caution and very much look for PIN placement and see for other “related” nominations to see if the opposite goal post is nominated etc.
I recently rejected a second nomination for the same field, second sport, as a duplicate. That’s my interpretation of the criterion.
The original field should probably be updated to include the second sport but we don’t really have that option easily available. And there’s no way to send that feedback either to other reviewers or to the submitter.
I had a multisport court nominated. Tennis. Basketball and Netball. Photo taken when each sport net/hoop was configured for sport. And titles spot on - Netball Court etc
Three nominations for the one 25m court… I rejected two of them as duplicates for the spot. But to be fair, description, title and photos were spot on.
I have always wanted a drop down option of what this is by saying this is a Multisport Court/Pitch to make it easier when nominating.
While I don’t have that option I clearly state in title and description it is a multisport pitch. And in description list the sports played. Seems to hold over other people trying to nominate each sport/pole/goal at each end
