Additional Information (if any):
This wayspot no longer exists. This mural has been painted over and has been replaced by another mural that relates to the business - Gnocchi Gnocchi Boys - that now occupies this address. Refer https://www.gnocchignocchiboys.com.au.
Updated photos have been provided to evidence that the wayspot mural no longer exists and has been replaced by another. When comparing these photos with the existing wayspot photo, you will note that the grey wall colour / roof line of the building are exactly the same
.
My understanding is that if one mural is replaced by another then you can simply add a new photo, and it is not considered repurposed.
So the original doesn’t need to be removed.
Also in this case the title - Art- allows a lot of flexibility.
There is a substantial difference between the existing mural (photo attached) and the new mural and as such any photo edit request would more than likely not be accepted (which is fair enough).
Regardless of this, I believe that a photo edit request in this instance would treated by the Wayfarer Team as an act of “repurposing” in the event that I had to appeal any decision not to accept the updated photo.
Your concern makes sense, but I think in this case - given the title of the wayspot and using this thread (specifically the response from @elijustrying as an Ambassador) - you could safely submit a new photo and not be accused of repurposing.
I’ve just realised: If the description of the wayspot specifically references the design of the previous mural, than it would be repurposing.
Thanks for all your guidance. Much appreciated
It will be interesting to hear the view of the Wayfarer Team as you clearly want to do the right thing, and each case is different.
Thanks for the appeal, @HinduLoveGods!After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to retire the Wayspot in question.
