My nomination was accepted recently. It showed up in game a couple of days back, but less than a week it's gone. Why?

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: Creekside Little Free Library

  • Location (lat/lon): 37.3076042, -121.7824917

  • City: San Jose

  • Country: United States

  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):

  • Additional Information (if any): no rejection email. It was accepted. And still shows accepted in my contribution page. It had already shown in one game (Pokemon Go) but was removed less than a week later. Why? (Also google maps shows a photo of the street with it from 13 years ago and at that time the little library wasn’t there yet. So google maps isnt accurate. But it is there and continues to be there now)

Seems like it was onbthe grounds of a single home family residence, and thus ineligible.

It’s actually on the sidewalk though

The photo shows it behind the sidewalk, not in front of the sidewalk on the strip.

Hey there. Sorry about the frustration.

First, the “accepted” mark will stay on your Contribution page and will not disappear - this is basically a record to show your accomplishment and it wouldn’t be fair to have them removed at a later just because the object may be removed, etc.

If it appeared in Pokémon GO and was later removed, it sounds like somebody reported it for removal and Niantic removed it for meeting removal criteria Reporting a Wayspot — Wayfarer Help Center most likely for being on “single family private residential property” or thinking it was permanently removed (like your comment about not being on Street View).

Check out these links to see if it helps to consider the “sfprp” concerns:

Please keep in mind that property owners or nearby property owners can report it, but also anyone who has seen the Wayspot could have reported it for removal as it may have met removal criteria.

If you think it’s an issue where someone reported it for removal because it doesn’t exist, you could post a photo or a few that show Niantic staff that it is still there.

Cheers. Staff will respond to this but might not give specific removal reasons, but addressing it with a photo might help.

At this point, I agree with the assessment, which should make it an ineligible location.

Thanks for the appeal, @ReklomVera. We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.

Does that matter? Both sides of the property AND the sidewalk are almost certainly private property.

I also consider it such, but Niantic usually will not remove from the strip between the sidewalk and the street. It varies too much between jurisdictions for them to set that as precedent. I rarely approve a nomination in front of an SFPRP home. The clarification says

so I use my own judgment case by case.

That certainly varies across the globe, in some areas it can be public property that can be argued… in this case we don’t even have to get to that point.

I’d like to add this point:

If a LFL is placed on eligible property in such a way that any visitors may obstruct the entrance, may encourage trespassing, or may present danger from nearby traffic, they should be considered ineligible.

It’s something I consider with any nomination near private residential property. Not saying I consistently reject (or approve), just take it into consideration.

But if its placed ad appartment/flat.

Then it dont matter if you block the entrance, encourage trepassing. Or block the street whit traffic

So funny always to see how people considering ad singel house’s, but dont care about people living in appartment or flats.
Where its extaly the same nuisance
