Neat stuff about Ramac Park

Just sharing something cool I discovered while working on improving local wayspots.

I live near an old IBM facility. In the last few years, the area has undergone changes and while the facility is gone, things have popped up that reflect upon that history, many of which are now wayspots.

One is Ramac Park. This is the description edit I sent in for that:

This park is named after IBM’s RAMAC (Random Access Method of Accounting and Control) computer, the first machines to use a hard-disk drive for storage. They were designed and built at the IBM facility that used to be at this location.

But, probably my favorite is, inside the park, there is a bookable picnic area named Spinning Platter, which doesn’t make much sense on its own. So this edit was just accepted for that POI:

This park is named after the first computer to use a hard-disk drive, which uses spinning platters instead of a magnetic drum.

Anyway, simple things, but they make me smile and I wanted to share. :->
