They havent been, we are just saying they are way more appropriate and have some link to the criteria, and no links to the really serious ineligible reasons such as SFPRP. Which compared to most imports is a huge step in the right direction!! Almost every imported power spot I can see at the moment is at someone’s house. Almost every one. Compared to that, bus stops are fantastic don’t you think?
Since this question was not answered, we do now know the following from Testing New Wayspots in Pokémon GO:
I suggested some cute pictures for my street corners — should I not have done that?
This was done to help rural player to level up to level that enable them to submit. Without import , its like chicken and egg. How do you expect people to submit nomination when its hard to level up. You need pokestop to lvl up but you cant even submit them until you reach lv 35. Imagine staying in place that have 0 pokestop/gym. People in city are lucky to play when the gamemap is ald filled. Just to reach lvl 35 and get your 1st nomination approved might take months. Assuming he/she doesnt quit and uninstall the game before that. When i play ingress 11 years ago. There is nothing in my area. I still remember my 1st submission took 2months to get approved. During that 2 months period barely anything i can do.
I understand wayfarer initially dont want every bus stop along the way to be wayspot. But compared to recent import in indonesia, i believe bus stop and /or street corner import is still better. I like the idea to play pogo during my bus ride to my destination.
You did not do anything wrong at the time, but I would not recommend submitting any more, based on the comment from Niantic Tintino that Gendgi linked.
I have big privacy concerns about this naming convention, because now anyone I send a postcard to can see the cross-streets where I live.
Yay for more rural Pokestops. Please rename these for safety!!!
Why would people know you live there? You can delete postcards, you dont have to send them.
As a grownup, I understand this. Kids play, too. Feels unnecessarily dangerous, esp. in the rural settings where these are going up
I hear you. But it’s a location based game. People need to train their kids to be smart. And I would imagine that the designers of the PGO game did not intend for us to add strangers (or people we don’t trust) to our friend list. That is a choice we all must think through when we add people as “friends.”
Even if its not street name, there are many other wayspot using place name (religious place, cafe, etc). All those post card have potential of leading people to know your general location (not exact location). If you feel uncomfortable with someone knowing your general location, you may want to rethink if thats the friend you want or if you even want to send postcard
Agree that the new stops naming creates no extra security risk than any other, we did suggest an obvious name to represent “This is an imported waypoint that does not meet wayfarer criteria” would be better.
How long before we get “Street Corner outside my house” to review as players see these and assume it is now OK to nominate them ![]()
We already do. This is what neighborhood signs are.
