Hi so my pokestop submission was approved 5-6 days ago but it has neither appeared as a pokestop or a power spot on the pokemon go app. Any idea how long it takes
Please go back and read the acceptance email thoroughly. There is no guarantee that your accepted Wayspot will ever show up in Pokemon GO.
so any idea if i will receive any confirmation if it will appear since the wayspot was showing as accepted.

No one ever gets confirmation of a Wayspot showing up in game other than us looking for it and seeing it. We have the map now and it will eventually display how the wayspot is being used (or not). But theres a sync delay and i can’t keep up with what that is.

Generally it should show up on the Wayfarer map within three syncs. (Usually faster but if it’s going to populate into Pokemon Go, the status changes can take up to that long).
