No Raids at Gym

The W.E Givens Education building at first Baptist Church gym located at 33.01629° N, 80.18244° W has not been hosting raids. As our community relies on this gym due to its proximity to our local park, it is a cornerstone of our local community. This gym is located in a public park parking lot next to a church building, so no reason for it to be excluded. For context the park has 8 churches around it, so this is actually really normal. Can you assist us in repairing this gym or confirming if a complaint was lodged to turn of raids at this location? We recently had a parishiner ask why people were standing in the parking lot looking at our phones, but that is par for the course with pogo. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forums

Please be aware that almost every gym, if not every gym, can legitimately have raids disabled, since almost everywhere, there can be a property owner (either of the spot containing the gym or nearby) who is genuinely affected by crowds of people gathering at the gym.

You therefore cannot be confident that there is no reason for it to be excluded, merely that you personally are not aware of any reason.

You have mentioned the likely cause of the report. From the perspective of a building user, it is not normal for a large group of people to be hanging around in a neighbouring car park staring at their phones. I notice this church has two gyms very close to it, which could have made the situation worse than if it was a single gym.

Niantic do often respond to confirm the reason (“property owner request” or similar) if raids have indeed been disabled.

Hey @cliffdogstar ,

Thanks for writing in.

We have disabled raids from this Gym due to a legitimate request. This is working as intended.

Best,

Appreciate the Feedback, especially about the large crowds. Hopefully, I’m overthinking, and this isn’t a reported issue. If this is indeed a location issue, is there a way to request that the gym be moved/ another pokespot be turned into a gym in its stead as not to involve that area of the park?

Basically - no, even though it sounds reasonable from a player’s perspective.
