I am just submitting a “thought / observation” noticed over the past couple years while observing and studying POI’s, stops, gyms, etc. There seems to be a big trend of “Decent, good, relevant, appropriate” nominations being rejected and not approved; yet irrelevant, private, unsafe, “manmade”, propped, street signs, basic plain rocks, and highly inaccurate location nominations being approved. Something, somehow, someway is very backwards. A lot of nominations (great, highly appropriate, followed guidelines, SHOULD BE stops/gyms) that players I know and play with locally have submitted, none approved. The goal and point to doing this is to make games more fun, more interactive, bring people together, and present more tasks/objectives to do. If the games are going to progress, stay relevant, and urge people to keep playing, or come back after a break, shouldn’t the “POI’s” expand, be added, and progress as well?! Anyways, just a note to get it off my mind finally.
I am sorry to hear that, Why dont you share this “Decent, good, relevant, appropriate” that got rejected. We can comment if there is something to be improved.
Hello and welcome,
Sorry to hear of your frustration. Unfortunately, without seeing some examples of both the good and the bad, it’s hard for us to give advise on what to do.
Keep in mind that Wayfarer is separate from the games, as Wayfarer is for building a database map of interesting POIs that meet Wayspot Criteria. Each game has their own inclusion rules, and games may also have sponsored game play locations, or, in some areas, imports to add more game play locations to a sparse area. For example, there was a recent import of stops/gyms for PoGo in both India and Indonesia: More PokéStops and Gyms coming to India and Indonesia
Sponsored stops in PoGo, for example, have pink ribbons on them, and typically have an image provided by the sponsor to be used. Imports usually do not have images and descriptions, just a title and place holder image, and some may not be in the correct location, based off of the 3rd party data that was used to create them.
Keep in mind that if you do find a Wayspot that is in the wrong location, you can request an edit in-game. However, if the edit is more than 10m, you will want to request the move via help chat on the Wayfarer website, making sure to provide evidence of where it should correctly be located, such as a geotagged photo.
