Nominationn accepted but not appearing in game

Howdy,

I recently had one of my nominations accepted, however, it is not in game.
I am well aware that not all waypoints become Pokestops, and I’m also aware of the rules around what creates a stop.

There is a waypoint close which is in the same cell, but is listed as ‘inactive’ - could that be blocking the creation of this stop? (Pete’s Pool Club & Sports Bar):

The nearby Cassette Lord Street Art (Niantic Wayfarer) is the one listed as inactive.

I just wanted to get a wider opinion if this could be the case?

Thanks

Hello and Welcome,

When was the “Petes” waypoint accepted?

Do you know when the other was accepted?

There are other reasons that waypoints don’t appear in game such as “Property Owner” request but only Staff would be able to confirm this.

Good Luck.

Hello,

it was accepted on 07/04 so it’s been nearly two weeks, so sync has happened.

I’ve no idea when the other one was accepted as it wasn’t one of mine. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in Pokemon Go, so it may be used in others.

It’s not the end of the world if it’s not in. I was mainly wondering if the inactive wayspot was blocking the creation.
I don’t think the staff would have submitted a request.

Thanks for your input. It’s appreciated.

I’m fairly sure that “Inactive” waypoint won’t effect pokestop / gym creation but I am not 100% so happy to be proved wrong.

If we assume that the art was in the database before “Petes” then the question is why that wasn’t already a Stop / Gym. Geoblock is the only thing I can think of but only staff could confirm.

Staff do answer in the forums so it’s just a case of waiting…

Yeah geoblock is what may be the reason, which if it is, then that’s fair enough.

Hopefully one of the staff will pick it up and will be able to confirm

Thanks for your input and for taking the time to reply.

To check how far a geo-block stretches you could try “Café A Sério?!” across the road…

That’s a good shout. I’ll get a nomination in for there soon and we’ll see how it goes. Providing the community votes in approval, of course.

For science!

Don’t see a problem, it’s a place to be social and I believe the google scores where decent what I looked…

Makes sure you mention both in the supplemental.

The nomination went through 3 days ago. So sync has happened and it looks like that S2 cell is geoblocked.

Hopefully one of the Niantic team will pick this up and confirm if this is the case of if there is a issue with that cell.

For those who don’t have these third party tools installed, this is how that Wayspot is showing.

I recently asked about a similar strikethrough, and staff were able to do something to make it show up in game. Gym or not gym? - #2 by NianticAaron

I won’t pretend I understand what happens behind the scenes. But these that I know are not live because of a geo-block do not have the strikethrough. These never went live, so were not removed, so that may be why they don’t have it.

(Edit: I checked a church and a soccer park that I know had pokestops but not wayspots removed and the property geo-blocked for pogo, and those do not show the strikethrough, either.)

Do you know if this wayspot with the strikethrough has had a location edit? It seems perfectly placed now.

In regards to Cassette Lord Street Art I don’t know if it’s had any edits etc, so I’m unaware of its history.

My theory is that it’s potentially blocking one of the other two from appearing in game.

Hopefully one of the team at Niantic will pick this up and will be able to provide some clarification/assistance.

Is there any way to flag this for staff to see or is it a case of hope that it gets seen?

Hello @Granty012

Based on the extended discussion here I am moving this to the Bugs and Technical Issues area. Hopefully staff will be able to give you some additional insight.

Hey @Granty012 ,

I understand you are concerned that one of your Wayspots does not show as a PokéStop or a Gym in Pokémon GO. We apologize for any disappointment this may cause, however, not all Wayspots become PokéStops or Gyms.

After a nomination is approved by reviewers, there is an additional automated review that determines whether the nomination is an appropriate fit for each particular Niantic game. Each game has their own set of criteria for this step, so some nominations may be accepted into one game but not another.

The most common reason that an eligible nomination is not added to Pokémon GO is because the nomination is too close to existing PokéStops or Gyms. If an existing game location is removed or the criteria changes, the nomination may appear within Pokémon GO at a later time.

Please keep in mind that while this is a common reason, it is not the only one.

Best,

Hey,

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I understand the criteria for each game is different and they may not always appear in Pokémon Go.

Is it just bad luck that all 3 Wayspots in the cell (centre of the attached photo) don’t appear in Pokémon Go?

I guess my question is - is there a geoblock on that location?

Many thanks

Cassette Lord Street Art is showing on the Wayfarer Map as a Pokestop, so this will be preventing any other wayspots become pokestops in that cell.

It is also marked as Inactive, as has already been observed. This therefore means that that cell cannot get an active pokestop, unless this wayspot is re-activated.

Since Niantic have commented, it would appear the inactive status is correct (for unstated reasons) and will not be reversed. Sometimes, Niantic confirm the existence of a geoblock, so there may be something else undetermined that is causing this issue.

Total stab in the dark, but the utility box is very close to the front door to a multi-apartment building on a fairly narrow pavement. This may have caused some issue in the past. Fortunately, there’s plenty of active wayspots nearby

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

None

It’s not reccommended to stab in the dark… :open_mouth:
