There’s a wayspot near me, that’s a Starbuck’s but somebody submitted it, it’s not sponsored. But since Starbuck’s is sponsored with pogo, is this eligible?
Sponsored Wayspots don’t have to meet the same criteria as user submitted ones.
Typically Starbucks would fall under the “Generic Business” reject but there are some possible outliers.
It’s also not best practice to use what’s on the map as what may be eligible, as criteria changes and sometimes poor things slip through.
I think you’re misunderstanding his post. My local target has a Starbucks, but it’s sponsored waypoint is across the parking lot at another store. Someone took it upon themselves to nominate and get accepted a Starbucks waypoint, I reported this non sponsored one tonight. It will probably be rejected.
Non- sponsored Starbucks are not automatically ineligible.
Each individual submission needs to be assessed against the questions.
It could be rejected as a generic business.
However if the nominator has made a specific case as to why this specific Starbucks as enough significance to meet criteria then it could be accepted.
If one is already a wayspot it may not meet removal criteria.
If the Wayspot is a duplicate, it can be reported. The sponsored Wayspot will not get removed. The best way here may be to report the non-sponsored one and ask the owner/manager to contact Niantic and get the location of the sponsored one fixed.
