To my knowledge, Walmart and Starbucks are the two businesses that have gotten sponsorships where branches of the stores have become Waystops (and in essentially every case I’ve seen, specifically a Pokestop or Gym). My local Walmart, however, did not become a Waystop - I am wondering why. Hopefully someone knows more than me about the how or where Walmarts can become Waystops/Pokestops.
Any additional information about how the Sponsored Businesses work would be super duper appreciated!
Thank you!
None of the Starbucks in my area that opened after Dec 2016 actually have sponsored stops/gyms; there’s even one that was open before this and it didn’t get a stop/gym. So it would seem that Starbucks still has some sort of sponsorship, but may not be adding new locations to said sponsorship.
Same for Walmart and even McDonald’s, as not all of the stores have them. Being this is a business deal, I doubt we’ll ever fully know what is in the deal between the sponsor and PoGo; those details most likely will remain confidential between the companies.
And yes, this is less of a Wayfarer question, as Wayfarer has no control over sponsored stops/gyms in PoGo, so this would best be asked to someone that handles marketing with PoGo or with the companies that has sponsored stops/gyms.
I could care less if all of the Starbucks in my area had stops/gyms. I don’t stop at any of them, and the only ones I’m ever near are the ones inside Targets. So yes, it might be big hurdle.
I am just curious if this was a regular Walmart, a SuperStore, or a Neighborhood Market. Our SuperStore got the stops and gym, but the Neighborhood Markets didn’t. We don’t have a “regular” Walmart that I know of.
