Non-pokestop waypoints

Hi,
I have been searching for a while now but I can’t figure out where the waypoints for dynamx raids in Pokémon go come from.
I would REALLY like to edit them too cause I have seen 2 that just say “my dentist” like why is that??
I have had a look on Pokémon go, pikmin bloom, ingress and some other Ninatic sites but they aren’t on there at all.
Does anyone know where these come from and how to change them?

It seems that “mydentist” is a brand name so it will be part of the original import…

Guessing the 2nd one is the same but mis-typed.

The source of Power Spots was explained here:

You cannot repurpose a Wayspot to change it to something else. But you can use help chat to submit a location edit if mydentist for example is actually in a different location. The easiest way to do this is through help chat at https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/help

There is also an in game edit menu on active wayspots. Tap the (?) then the (!) as I illustrated here: Is there a way to change the location of power spots? - #3 by cyndiepooh

I choose not to add photos or descriptions myself, because I want to be able to tell which are the imported Wayspots and it confuses me when those are added.

Also just to add to this that the power spot imports aren’t used by Ingress and Niantic Spatial’s games have a separate map now from Pokémon GO and the games acquired by Scopely.

Yeah, now I had another look, it is definitely a brand. I kind of assumed it wasn’t though because there is also a 3rd waypoint next to these 2 that has the actual dentist offices name.
It’s just very weird that there are 3 waypoints for the same thing.

Thank you! This is very helpful!! I guess I’ll have to wait until one of the my dentists appears then haha.

Although that’s kind of sad that you can’t repurpose them. My student union is currently a dynamx waypoint and it’s a shame that we can’t change it as it would be nice to have some routes from there.
But thank you again!

Everything about imported power spots is confusing and bad. Most of them around here are at people’s houses for their businesses.

We can make new power spots by submitting normal PoIs in areas where the cell already contains a PoI. I think they need to be around 22m apart for the power spot to show up. I have been trying to add new legitimate power spots, but I leave the imports alone - after all this time its quite clear that Niantic think 100 players gathering outside a random plumbers house is fine.

You can see the details of inactive powerspots by going into the in game submission screen and on the map, if you toggle things to show existing PoIs, they will come up as an orange ! and you can use a screenshot of that if you want to report or edit them via help chat. I did that with one that was for a preschool (superb quality imports :grimacing:)

If there is room, you might be able to submit a wayspot there if it is an eligible POI. If there isn’t room, then there is a pokestop very close by and you could use that for routes instead

That’s such a bad waypoint oh my gosh :sob:.

I’ve been looking at them through the submission screen atm but I might go do report on of the many my dentists haha.

Also do these dynamax waypoints have to be businesses or can it be anything like the normal pokestop are?

The only difference between submitting a new stop or new powerspot is where it is and what’s around it - if it’s on its own in a cell then itll be a stop, if its in a cell that’s already got something in, then it mighr become a powerspot. The criteria for submitting them is the same (a great place to explore, socialise or exercise). We can’t for example directly submit a corner shop for it to become a powerspot - it would be evaluated against the normal wayfarer criteria

Thanks for the advice though I fear I might have to stick to doing routes from the boring map that’s next the the union.

I’ve found trail markers to be pretty good at adding in new power spots, also places like a station where there’s lots going on, I added some artwork pieces in addition to the stops that already existed. The other thing I’m finding is the central street of my village, I’m adding all the different lovely cafés and restaurants hoping for power spots, albeit they’re often too close to otherthings

I kind of like the submissions now where I don’t honestly care to check cells for things very often, because I know it’s likely to be a stop or a power spot either way and both are useful so that’s quite nice

a student union is a great place to be social….it was in my day :joy: and there are usually several different social places within it.

So instead of submitting the whole building you could submit something else inside. Eg the bar? Any artwork or plaques?

I reported 2 for this reason, round the corner from each other, same estate due to SFPRP. 1 removed the other “no reason to remove”…

The ones I reported as being in the middle of roads were not removed, so :person_shrugging:

Sadly, my union is quite boring other than the building itself we don’t even have a bar :smiling_face_with_tear:. They are also planning on renovating soon (although they have been saying that for years) so nothing that I nominate can pass the “permanent and distinct” other than the union itself as I haven’t heard anything about it moving location.
Thanks for the idea though

When did you report them?
