POI removed in Ingress and POGo

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • NYS Elevation Marker
  • 42.911291,-75.866919
  • Cazenovia, NY
  • Country: USA
  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information):
  • Additional Information (if any): This POI was removed on 1/25/2025 after being accepted on 1/1/2021. We live out in the country and my family and I use this POI frequently in both Ingress and Pokemon Go. We use it as a starting point for routes and to get our daily bounties in Ingress. I have been playing both Ingress and Pokemon Go for many years and would very much like this stop/portal back. It is on a back road that has more pedestrian traffic than cars. If this portal was removed due to pedestrian access, there is public trout fishing with parking about 30 feet to the left of the portal. The bottom photo has the parking circled.

Welcome to the forum! I don’t have any say in the decision - that will be by Niantic staff - but Niantic will have had some kind of evidence that this is ineligible to remove it. The most likely reasons I can think of would be for being on SFPRP (single family private residential property), not having safe pedestrian access, or not existing where it is pinned. You will want to present evidence for the team that none of these apply.

I don’t see it on Street View at the given coordinates, but I did find something that might be it up the road a bit here:

Ya, that’s exactly it! How do I respond if I do not know why it was removed?

Cover all the issues that might have had it removed. Take photos or maybe a 360 video - or even a splat if you would like to install this program: Leveling Up Your Appeals and Removal Reports

My gut feeling is that it was removed for safe pedestrian access, so anything you can submit to show that people walk here safely would help. I am not sure how to do that.

Thanks for the appeal, @parkerleon06. We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.
