I’ve heard that Pokémon Go is currently disconnected from the Wayfarer map, and there’s a chance that all PokéStops and Gyms will disappear tomorrow morning (except for sponsored PokéStops). Even if the map is restored, there will be a major reshuffle.
Everyone… PANICCCCC!!! (BTW, I haven’t heard that from official sources… but if you can cite any official source…)
I also want to know if the information is correct. I heard it happened after the “Niantic Wayfarer” app was disabled on Android. Not sure what the engineers might have messed up.
That doesn’t seem rooted in any kind of sense. Currently there is a bug for some users, but doesn’t mean all the PokéStops are going to vanish. I don’t get that leap.
Hope so.
Ok. So the Wayfarer app for Android has been discontinued due to SDK changes by Google. The Wayfarer app has nothing to do with any of the games provided by Niantic and has no bearing on how the game interacts with the database where the Wayspots exist.
edited. On review, don’t worry about merging.
This seems like a conspiracy theory with zero basis after the Wayfarer app closed on Android.
LOL.
That is indeed not true.
Perhaps it is a rumor that has been somehow mistaken for the truth along the way.
The Wayfarer application for Android has been shut down, but Wayfarer itself has not.
And even if Wayfarer were shut down entirely, the PGO team would still be able to import data from Overture Maps and Foursquare overnight to create a game-playing environment.
So I don’t think there is anything to worry about.
