Ingress Map Sync Cadence Update

Hello Explorers,

As you may have noticed, Wayfarer map and the Ingress map have stopped syncing as of two days ago. This is intended as part of the ongoing transition work on both teams. I’d like to confirm that this does not mean your approved submissions will no longer have the opportunity to sync with the Ingress map prior to the transition. While the map will no longer sync automatically per its usual schedule, there will now be manual periodic map syncs between Wayfarer and Ingress.

Hopefully, that makes things a bit clearer!

Will these syncs be at a fairly regular basis? Or sporadic?

I was wondering why one of my recently accepted Wayspots hasn’t shown up in Ingress yet. Hopefully it will before the official separation.

I had definitely noticed. :->

Hope that the Ingress team shares this update as not all Agents will visit the forums

Does this mean that any waypoints submitted to Wayfarer and approved will also eventually make it into Ingress? I have been dreading having to submit things twice.

This is about syncing prior to transition.
This says more.

Thanks! That makes me sad.

Many of my Wayspots don’t appear in the game because they are blocked by Foursquare Wayspots. Ironically, the Foursquare Wayspots themselves don’t show up in Pokémon GO, which means the cell is essentially broken.

FourSquare imports should show up in PGO. Some don’t show up in Ingress, which means they aren’t on the Intel map. You would need to be at the location to know if they are in PGO…thus the need for a PGO map.

If you have an issue like what you’re describing, could you please share it in another thread? I’m not sure how it pertains to the sync cadence but would be happy to ask staff or other community members for another look if you’re having concerns.

well, it actually does not  what is the period now? what kind of changes do and do not come through?

Any changes that would normally sync (edits/photos/new Portals etc.) as we saw when it was automatic would be included as part of the manual sync as far as I’m aware.

It’s just a question of when the Ingress team actually do these syncs I suppose.

The sync is still a thing in all the ways it was before. It’s just not happening automatically at the moment so somewhere someone needs to push a button.

I remember that the HPWU did manual syncs for a while, and I assume Pikmin Bloom has the same “button” as they only sync every now and then

Apparently the GeoSpatial Browser map is also paused for those of you who have access to that:

Yes it would seem from my observations that GSB is not up to date so use with the same caution as the Intel/IITC data if advising people.

Hmm. Yes, I can confirm that a wayspot I had approved on May 9th is in PGO but is not on GSB or Intel.

GSB is good because we can check all the hidden wayspot. It will be hard to explain to people who kept asking #whereismypokestop without iitc or gsb haha

Its best to kill Ingress sync completely at this point, instead of prolonging. It was stated otherwise but i believe Ingress access to wayfarer will gradually sunset as well. Especially when Niantic spatial review gets up & going.

They have already outlined the split overview. Ingress agents will continue to have access to wayfarer after the split.
