Do you know what happens to the existing database? Will it be split at some point with PoGo and Ingress having a different set, or will there still be some sort of sync between PoGo and Ingress contributions?
Will there be any sync between Wayfarer and whatever Ingress decides to use?
Will the Earth become flat once Ingress players starts to nominate their own stuff? Tongue in cheek comment
That’s basically what is said: there will be 2 maps, one with Scopely and one with Niantic Spatial. The Scopely map will be for their games, and the Spatial map will be for their games.

It says “map management”, which could be read that it only affects the process of submitting and reviewing but still going into the same database (likely not but yknow how Niantic announcements are sometimes).
tbh I am more interested in, if the maps do get split, if Ingress gets a one-time snapshot of the database or if players need to resubmit stuff that has already been accepted in the past
I doubt they will need to resubmit. Most likely it will be a split into 2 different maps and 2 different management systems, if that’s the route they are taking.
Another question:
- Continued Access to Wayfarer: Ingress players who currently have a Wayfarer account will continue to have full access to Wayfarer. You will still be able to log in, review nominations, and view your contribution history. Your existing login credentials will remain the same.
- Contribution Data: Going forward, new map contributions submitted through Ingress will be processed by Niantic Spatial. This ensures that Ingress contributions continue to receive dedicated attention and support.
Is this already in effect with new players no longer being able to create a Wayfarer account and submissions going through Spatial or is that something that will be rolling out in the coming months like the new system?
I just reached L8 in Ingress, and my edits that I did this week in it are in my Wayfarer account, and the removal request I did in Ingress came from Wayfarer. I think they will announce the split in advance, as it sounds as if the new management system for Ingress isn’t up and running yet.

No, they will be two different and unrelated systems after the transition.
Am I to assume that any future Wayfarer challenges will have PoGo only prizes?

If Wayfarer Challenges continue as the have been for the past couple of years AND they happen on the Scopely side then yes, the prizes would be Pokémon GO only if they chose to continue collaborating.
And Ingress players will only get a pat on the back… right?
