Pokestop is not appearing on the map

Months ago I uploaded this proposal, it was approved but it never appeared on the map. Can you do anything for this problem?

Hey @Sgagge,

Thank you for submitting a PokéStop nomination! While some nominations may be deemed eligible by the community of reviewers on Niantic Wayfarer for inclusion into Niantic’s location database, they may not necessarily be added into every Niantic game. After a nomination is approved by reviewers, there is an additional automated review that determines whether the nomination is an appropriate fit for each particular Niantic game. Each game has their own set of criteria for this step, so some nominations may be accepted into one game but not another.

The most common reason that an eligible nomination is not added to Pokémon GO is because the nomination is too close to existing PokéStops or Gyms. If an existing game location is removed or the criteria changes, the nomination may appear within Pokémon GO at a later time.

Please keep in mind that while this is a common reason, it is not the only one.

Hello and welcome @Sgagge

Here are some specific details to help understand why unfortunately your wayspot won’t become a pokestop.

Your stop is in the database

That was the first step you needed to do successfully.
However each game draws on this database of wayspots as they choose.
For Pokémon Go they use some geographic software that helps change a 3D world into a 2D flat map.
It’s complex, but is covered in this article

https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/
The key is that in Pokémon Go they only accept 1 wayspot from a certain size box (level 17 cell)

This shows your wayspot is in the same cell as the castle pokestop. Unfortunately this means yours can’t be a pokestop.
There is a possibility it may become a powerspot - but you will have to wait and see.
Sorry to break the bad news but you now have a full explanation and you can be aware of this for future.

And there’s nothing we can do to maybe move it outside the cell spot? It’s confusing bc I’ve seen several pokestops right next to each other and sometimes on top of each other. I’m currently in the same boat as this OG submitter.

usually when you see pokestops right beside each other, they are just across one of those invisible lines that form the S2 cells. sometimes there is another reason, for example sponsored stops do not have to obey cell rules, and location edits in the past didn’t always cause the pokemon go status to be recalculated as they should now.

if the wayspot is pinned at a correct location in real life, attempting to move it for game purposes is considered abuse.

There is another pokestop right next to it which seems to be the problems. Its a small library next to a putt putt but if I try to add a new stop the one that’s missing shows up thats why I’m extra confused

Existing Putt Putt 33.084207, -96.808773
New library 33.084202, -96.808772

The map that you see when submitting at the physical location (which is always advisable if you’re not sure what is already in the database) shows actual pokestops and gyms plus other POI that aren’t valid for pokestops and gyms.

They won’t be valid because of proximity (as per @cyndiepooh and @elijustrying) or because they were imported for use as powerspots.

It looks like that library is a wayspot submitted by someone that has failed to be a pokestop due to the proximity rules. It can’t be resubmitted because it already exists. This is a good example of using the map, as it saves you from submitting something that will be rejected as duplicate.

Ok got it. It’s def not duplicate it seems the issue is just proximity. Thanks for looking into it

Hello,

Please wait till one of the regulars confirm this is correct but to me it seems that the “Mini Golf” is mis-placed.

There are 3 Holes to the left of the path. The wayspot is located to the right of the path. I can not be 100% sure whether there is a 4th hole where the wayspot is located.

If not then you can do a Location Edit in game (only do this if the current location is incorrect in real life. Moving the location even from 1 correct location to a 2nd also correct location is classed as Abuse and can get you banned from wayfarer and PokemonGo).
If the location edit is accepted you will have moved to the neighbouring cell leaving the current cell available.

I don’t want to get anybody banned so only do this if…

  • One of the “veteran” wayfarers agree with my assesment.
  • You can confirm that the current wayspot position is not on any part of the mini golf in real life.

Good luck.

That’s actually correct, the mini library is not part of the green putt putt area and there are more 4 mini holes. So moving the pokestop wouldn’t be wrong as its a larger space.

As stated, I don’t want to get anybody in to trouble so…

  • The smaller grassed area where the wayspot is located. What is this area for?
  • Where would people pay / pick up equipment for the mini golf?
  • Once paid, where is the start of Hole 1?

My worry is that if the current wayspot position is part (in any way) of the mini golf then a location edit can be seen as Abuse and trigger Warnings / Suspensions / Ban.

So that patch of grass is just grass there’s no putting hole there. The equipment is located inside the white garage to the right and the first hole is on the opposite side of the current pin location. You can see the green color difference of where the holes are located.

And I definitely appreciate the suggestions and comments. I just didn’t know why my spot was approved yet it’s been 3 weeks and doesn’t show on the map but if I tried to add another spot in the same location it somehow then shows up. It makes sense it’s due to the existing pokestop overlapping. Definitely great to know for future stop nominations.

As I am only seeing this on the 2D map it is hard for me to see it in 3D.

The “path” I am seeing to the left of the waypoint, is that a path or is it a bridge over the grass area?
The Equipment “garage”, is that the building with what looks like a “dot” and " 2 dashes"?

If so, I would assume that the grass with the waypoint is part of the Mini Golf even if it is just the route from picking up equipment to the 1st Green.

Good luck with future nominations.

If there were a sign saying “This is the putting green” then I would absolutely say, yes, submit a location edit for the putting green to move it to the sign. But since it is just kind of a general area, idk how to advise. If there is no putting green on the side of the sidewalk it is pinned on, then it might be a correction to move the pin to the side that does have the putting holes. Use your best judgment here. Based on the photo, I think a move could be requested.
