Yeah, this sounds funny. Some places do have famous and/or historical transit hubs, like Grand Central Station in New York City, but there are other transit hubs and stations around the world that aren’t famous/historical.
What it means more is transit hubs, larger public transit stations where one may catch a bus or train, and may even have seating areas. They don’t have to be famous or historical, as the main transit center in my city is not famous or historical at all, but it has a Wayspot.
Transit hubs can be a great place to be social, where you may meet up with someone; I certainly have done this at my city’s transit center while waiting for a bus. They may also include shops and art, so they may be great places to explore.
Individual stops on a specific bus route are not generally eligible themselves, but a bus station that serves as a hub/terminus for several routes can be eligible under the exploration criteria as a transport hub.
So, for example, Leeds Bus Station in the UK serves as a transport hub. Nearly all of the city’s bus routes stop at this station (or just outside of it) and you would typically change buses here to reach other areas of the city. This is eligible and already exists as a wayspot.
However, a nearby bus stop on York Road would not be eligible, as it is not a transport hub, but just a generic stop on one of the bus routes.
I think it would help for you to give specific examples to ask about. It is always hard to give generic answers.
Did you click on the links in @hankwolfman 's post? I meant examples like that with pictures and places we can talk about. I thought his examples were very clear and helpful. Could you link or screenshot one you are confused about.
1000 different examples may be shared of something that doesn’t fit what you may have in your area, its best if you provide the examples and we advise accordingly since the feedback will be more specific to you.
Basically niantic doesnt want every bus stop to become wayspot especially because some bus stop is very plain. In some part of my place some of the bus stop is only small signage with pole, so this wont be accepted. It nd to fulfil certain criteria like unique construction, large transit hub, or have things like art.
You seem to be approaching exploring for wayspots the wrong way round. You are trying to examine in theory the guidelines in order to categorically define something as eligible and then go collect.
It is better to go out walk around and look. All the time thinking about the things you see….
Is this interesting? If someone pointed this out to me would I learn something from interacting with it?
Would this place, the view inspire me?
Would I say to others let’s sit down and spend some time here chatting. This is a place we can relax at and spend time to get know each other?
Is this somewhere I can go and do some physical exercise, play a sport.
Keep going back to those 3 core criteria of
great place to socialise, explore or exercise.
If you answer yes then you may have something take pictures, and research and then ask.
