The first one appears to be a normal street name sign.
The second is a normal power box.
Your nominations need to fulfill one of the three criteria exercise, exploration, socialising, while not fulfilling a rejection criteria.

Also to clarify a common misconception, you never submit a pokestop to Pokémon go, but a Wayspot to Niantics database, that Pokémon GO then may choose to include or not, despite the game not saying that
