Questioning why are those submissions is considered abuse

Hello Niantic Team,

I need some help with a few issues related to my Wayfarer account:

-Two of my nominations were flagged for “abuse.” I’ve attached screenshots showing the titles of these nominations. It is located around coordinates 10.795928, 106.696175 and 10.795968898760124, 106.69628376909314. Could you please review and let me know why they were flagged?
-I’m not receiving any emails from Wayfarer (such as nomination updates or review confirmations), even though my email address is correct. Could you check this issue for me?
-Here’s a Streamable link showing my issue: Watch 7146128494223 | Streamable
-Could you also explain what “abuse” means in this context and how I can avoid it in the future?

Thank you!!!

You can get your submission coordinate from “thank you” email after you submit the nomination.

If its possible, pls share complete detail of your nomination.

Your supporting photos are supposed to help prove your nomination exists where you say it does, as they provide no additional context, reviewers might suspect you are lying about the location and marking it as abuse.

The “Abuse” rejection narrative can be flagged for a nomination for any of the following reasons

  • The photo is not yours (e.g., taken from streetview, found on another website)
  • The text itself is abusive
  • The nomination is controversial and likely to be offensive (e.g., a mural of terrorists)
  • Another nomination was abusive and all of yours have been flagged as a consequence
  • The wayspot location pin is misplaced
  • The wayspot is deliberately misrepresented (e..g., on school property but pretending it isn’t)
  • (there may be others)

You may be able to tell which of these is the issue for this submission, but don’t worry about being accused of being discriminatory, as this isn’t what this narrative is necessarily saying.

He did not get it I believe so, hence why he is asking this question.

Nice to meet you, and welcome to the forum.

Please let me add a bit more. For supporting images, we need photos that clearly show both the proposed Wayspot and the surrounding scenery. I watched the video, and the shop sign was visible on the right at the very beginning. If both the sign and the mural were visible in the photographed image, the reviewer should have been able to confirm that the location was correct.
When both the main image and supporting images are nearly identical, or when the supporting image only shows scenery, or for some reason captures the ground, these are always used as standard tricks to deceive reviewers and get a Wayspot approved. Moreover, that Street View was outdated, taken before the mural was created. That’s probably why the reviewer suspected it was fake.
Support images serve another purpose. They must convey to the reviewers what kind of location it is. It must be clear that it is not a detached house or a school, and that it is safe to stop there.

These nominations were flagged by the local community for being misplaced. The team reviewed these reports and determined that there was not enough evidence to classify these as abusive.

Confirmation emails are sent to the email address associated with the log in method you use while submitting the nomination in question. Please check the correct email to locate these emails. Thanks,

Following up on this, I see that the emails were sent to the same address you had mentioned but they were not delivered. Please make sure that your inbox has storage available. Also, see if there are any restrictions on these emails.

Do make sure you have notices@wayfarer.nianticlabs.com added to your address book and/or safe senders list, and that it’s not blocked. Having a full inbox is another common reason for not receiving emails, so do make sure to clean it out every so often.

This is the most insightful comment I’ve seen recently.

In my country, many fraudulent applications employ the same tactics as you describe.

Some use AI, some use images from the internet, and some fake the location(s).

The only commonality is that their support images are incredibly strange.
