False Abuse Warning from Niantic Wayfarer

Hello Team,

I received a rejection mail today on one of my Wayspot nomination. And upon logging into my wayfarer account I received a abuse warning, I am absolutely unware what abuse I did submitting a valid nomination. Is this some false alarm pushed by niantic? Can anyone here help me on this? What should I reconsider while submitting new wayspot. PS: I am submitting since 2019 and this is the first time I am witnessing smoething like this.

I am attaching the details of my nomination here.

Thanks,
Mysticjit

Hello and welcome @Mysticjit

You get 3 emails in total specifically relating the breech of the rules

These will be different from the standard rejection email.

You have shown us one of the emails relating to the breech, have you had the other emails that give details?

you should receive email explaining which wayspot trigger the warning

Hello @elijustrying

I have received just a single mail from Wayfarer today, which says Wayspot nomination was not accepted; not even a single mention of abuse warning. Abuse warning was visible only when I logged into the wayfarer website.

If you haven’t received details then be patient as what normally happens is a member of the wayfarer team will read this then send you a private message with details.

In the mean time, you can check any other email that you have that might be related to wayfarer/pogo. If you cant find the email, you can wait staff to DM you

Anyway regarding the rejection from your submission. Did you take the photo from 3rd party source or did you ever upload the photo elsewhere before your submission went in voting?

I am just concerned because I have two more nomination of the same park “In Voting” for quite a longer time than usual and I am suspecting that some phishy stuff going on with these. I am not particulrly sure on how to deal with them now as one of the other valid nomination has been rejected and got a warning mail for it.

Now that I understand the full details of the submission, I would like to offer my personal opinion. It may have been judged by the Wayfarer team as not clearly meeting the eligibility criteria. Hiking trail signs are recognized as an ideal place to promote exercise, but guide signs are excluded from the criteria clarification collection.

Trails & Markers

:-1: Although this could be mistaken for a trail marker, it is simply a set of directions to various places in the city so it is not eligible.

Since the images are of quite higher size I prefer submitting them after connecting to my home wifi. And I have been doing this since last 6 years. I always take the pictures while visiting the place and keep a mark on my google map submission list and start submitting only when I reach home. I do not think that is a problem. And to answer your question, no the images are not from any 3rd party sources, these are taken on my phone.

I understand it could not be an eligible nomination but that should not a reason to flag it as abuse. Although the trail markers submitted by me have been accepted even in the very recent past. For reference:

Even if reviewers accepted it, that does not mean it was the correct decision. I suspect that the Wayfarer team takes a strict stance on submissions and reviews that violate the criteria clarification collection. The sign you showed does not promote exercise, and even if it indicates where to explore, it is not an ideal place for exploration.

I agree with you that I am not certain this is eligible, but I don’t think it rises to the level of abuse. For it to be abuse, it needs to be intentionally misplaced, not real, or a third party photo (amongst a few other dirty tricks that arent worth talking about). I am curious how this one goes.

I have shared the details in a DM. Please review it.
