Questions about rejecting submission with an another one having been approved

Hello community,

I am writing this post to see if my rejected by the community wayspot fits the criteria and follows guidelines before I attempt to Appeal it from my contributions page. I want to make absolutely sure that I am inline with all requirements and regulations set in place. I feel like the community may confuse the “private residence” in my case, as my wayspot is not in the yard of a single house and is in fact in the yard of a semi residential building and also accessible to pedestrians.

Another wayspot like my community rejected one, exists in game and has been approved by the community.

I submitted a wayspot of an old well which is located within the yard of a semi residential apartment complex. I say semi residential due to the fact that my dentist has his office in that building which means frequent visits from his clients. This also means that the building is not fully residential.

I will provide a screenshot of my submission named “Saki karagiorga old well” located in Athens Glyfada at Saki Karagiorga 19 Glyfada.

The second screenshot is an already approved wayspot named ‘ Kondili old well’ as example that wayspots like my community rejected one exist already in game

Any and all help is greatly appreciated

Would it be possible to state the GPS Co-Ords so people take take a look.

Your description of “semi residential” seems quite vague, personally if this is an house where the dentist using 1 of his rooms for the business I would still reject. If it is a apartment block with multiple dwellings then that is possible.

Your next problem is if the well is something that people go and explore, if this was meant to be the case I would expect that there would be a information plaque explaining it’s history.

The above is not 100% ruling but could make your nomination much easier.

Good Luck.

Hi there

Thank you so much for the info and clarifications!

I’ll post some additional pics for clarity as well as the geotag as I see it in Google Maps so you can check it out!

I’m afraid of appealing it before any clear directions are given because when I first became a member of wayfarer I was not interpreting the rules correctly and I got a warning from niantic. Since I absolutely do not want to get my account in PoGo suspended, here I am!

Also let me add, the dentist office is his office, not his house that has a room where he takes appointments. It’s a fully professional setting, with a secretary and a dental clinic sign (Οδοντιατρείο)
Moreover the well doesn’t have any informational plaque unfortunately, however others which exist as POIs don’t either.

Example POIs that have been approved include:

Kondili Old Well
37.866324, 23.749870

Queen Old Well
37.862808, 23.754815

Coordinates of my contribution found below:
(37.8668888, 23.7464839)

Thank you again!

As a general point, you shouldn’t justify a wayspot on the basis that other things like it already exist. Always justify a wayspot on the basis of it meeting criteria (Exploration, Social, Exercise) and being eligible (safe, accessible).

They might have been accepted in error, the criteria might have changed, they might have something extra to justify them that yours doesn’t, they might be borderline and got lucky etc etc.

This doesn’t look like single family private residential property at all, its apartments, so a well in shared grounds would not be an ineligible location.

In terms of acceptance, you’d want to talk about how the well is a good place to explore, so including facts and dates in the description can help show that its an interesting well and can help with acceptance

@salixsorbus & @frealafgb have beaten my to the reply

As stated, the location looks eligible.

Your problem is the waypoint has be fit 1 of the main criteria. Exercise, Socialise or Explore. I believe that the only 1 that is possible is “Explore” but somehow you have to prove that people come to visit this place.

Ask yourself the question, if you had an out of time visitor would you state “Hey, come and have a look at our old well”

Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your time and kind help!

I will aim to appeal the submission as it seems the community is not well versed on what constitutes as a private residence.

Keep up the awesome work everyone! :folded_hands:t3::heart:
