Rage Quit Rant

Why bother appealing anything?

If you decide to give it another shot instead of rage quitting, maybe try a title that matches the sign, like “I :bird: NY - New York State Birding Trail Overlook at East Swamp Road in Conesus, New York”

Why submit that as an overlook rather than a trail marker?

Hello @KatetheKonz

It is very frustrating to be directed to signfarer.

Would you like some help with this or are you wanting to vent?

I had the same thought, but this marker doesn’t seem to have a location written on it. I might have been tempted to call it an overlook as well. We can’t see what she wrote in the description - I would have written about the trail in that.

It’s an observation area for bird watching. There is no trail.

In that case I would describe it as an observation point and have the sign ( I know I know but it is more likely to get in ) more in the picture. You can replace the picture later.

I wouldn’t recommend using the “bird” emoji in the title. First, it displays very differently across various OS/platforms, and second, the game might not show it at all. It’s better to use the “bird” character instead: 𓅂.

Unlucky @KatetheKonz it seems like it’s your turn this week to jump through hoops at the Niantic circus.

I mean there’s obviously a sign and there’s obviously a pond and obviously birds and nature for people to get together and explore obviously everything is eligible if only you had put them in a different order!

Much better!

It’ll also help answer what version of Unicode is supported in Ingress. I’ve already learned it can’t render “ꞯ” properly :disappointed:

Upon further review, I think there’s an option that better matches the sign:

đ“…Ş

Oh thats so frustrating - it looks like a wonderful spot to encourage exploring and exercise

Maybe the staff here could reconsider the appeal? It feels bad to have an appeal rejected for “not having a sign” when there is in fact a sign - its like the appeal wasn’t fully looked at.

This SIGN indicates a designated recommended area for birdwatching. I think “Overlook” is an accurate name. It is not a “Trail” in the way Wayfarers usually think of that word. Would this have been accepted with the title: “NY Birding Trail Sign”? Or “NY Birding Trail Observation Point”?

I don’t want to start tagging staff, but hope that someone here will take another look at this rejection. I think this would be an excellent Wayspot.

So do I

I know this overlook well. I’ve led trips around the lake, watching birds, and this is one of the stops we make. We’ve seen Red-headed Woodpecker, Green Heron, Bald Eagle, Pied-billed Grebe, and even Otters at this site. It’s part of the Conesus Inlet wetlands and publicly-accessible conserved land. I can vouch for its potential to be a great wayspot!

I think the photo suffers from “too much green stuff” and the description could be improved, but yeah…those can be handled with edits.

Sorry for the digression

Summary

Abnormal

Normal Niantic choices resume.

Lets hope the appeals team can reconsider :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: it must be pretty cool to see a submission you recognise too

That’s another reason why this is such a fine Wayspot: it’s at a respectful distance from the wildlife below, and offers an unobtrusive glance into nature.

Definitely.

I read your post and remembered a friend had sent it to me the other day
