Do I need my Pokémon GO settings to have “Email me events, offers and updates” on?

Yah I think quite a lot of them will be countryside ish, guessing it’s based on S2 cells, but no idea at what scale.
All the people complaining that you haven’t received the email yet, You are lucky.
I have to wait a month until my next one…

I don’t have any inside info but the 1st occupied L17 cell in a L14 cell makes sense???
The email looks great! Thanks so much for this new feature.
I got 7 new areas which I’m pretty sure means they are first stop in a L14.

I’m excited about these, but I’m going to miss this month’s email because I just found out about the feature yesterday and apparently it takes 48 hours for the setting to take effect once the notification setting is toggled back on. My game logs out constantly because of bad cell reception and that setting keeps getting disabled. I wish there was a way to see these stats in wayfarer and not just an email.

That’s extremely odd… I just factory reset my phone and the setting did not disable. This shouldn’t be happening.
I’m a dumb dumb, the setting that counts stayed toggled on. I missed the bit about it being under the accounts section and I thought it meant the notifications one. 
My email is hopefully on its way eventually. The one under notifications does get untoggled still (I have some serious cell dead spots in my town that cause me to log out and mess up my settings on a regular basis).
