Rejected Removal Appeal: Multiple wayspots on private residential property

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Warn this user against continuing to submit things on single family private residential property?
  • Proactively geofence the private residential property so no nominations can be made there? Here is a simple hexagon outline of the property:
    [{“type”:“polyline”,“latLngs”:[{“lat”:40.05586313281552,“lng”:-83.10023993253706},{“lat”:40.05549545801649,“lng”:-83.10254931449892},{“lat”:40.0559719970402,“lng”:-83.10269147157669},{“lat”:40.05577686292906,“lng”:-83.10397356748582},{“lat”:40.05451260127023,“lng”:-83.10364365577698},{“lat”:40.055202451551885,“lng”:-83.09979200363159},{“lat”:40.05586313281552,“lng”:-83.10023993253706}],“color”:“#a24ac3”}]

I see these are all removed on Lightship now. Thank you.

Hopefully Niantic can also:

  • Warn this user against continuing to nominate wayspots on single family private residential property.
  • Proactively geofence this specific private residential property to prevent these wayspots from continuing to reappear in the future. I provided GPS coordinates for this geofence in my original post.

You seem to be referring to the property here - https://maps.app.goo.gl/4tA5HDrfFwFbq562A

According to their website at About Us this is the address of 58 Partners Foundation Church. However, it sure looks like a private residence, and I note this Reddit thread about the property which makes me go “hmmm”.

Yeah, the first thread from three weeks ago (Invalid Group of Wayspots Appeal: All on Private Residential Property) goes into more details on all of that. That’s why I just linked to that post and didn’t relitigate it in my post.

Wow… OK, I didn’t see that thread… it explains a lot.

It seems complex, but really it’s just a business based at a private residential property, like so many dog groomers and book-keepers who would similarly be ineligible. I didn’t think it looked much like a church…

A corporation is at heart a fictitious person that serves as a cut-out to protect real people from liability.

As reviewers, we are not expected to determine the legal ownership of private residential property. It doesn’t matter if it’s being used for an AirBnB, rented to a single family, rented out to college students, or left unoccupied.

This is zoned for private residential occupancy. All the rest is just window dressing.

Thanks for the appeal, @FrequentFlyer. After reviewing the additional evidence provided, we’ve decided to retire the Wayspots in question.
