Rejected Wayspot Appeal: Baudenkmal S 002: Historisches Brauhaus Jöris

City: Mönchengladbach

Country: Germany

Dear Niantic Team,

I am appealing the rejection of this official heritage site. The community reviewers completely misunderstood the criteria and mistakenly focused on the temporary chalkboard in the foreground instead of evaluating the permanent, historic building itself.

1. Official Heritage Status (S 002): The nominated building (Speicker Straße 3 / Vitusstraße) is the historical main building of the Jöris Brewery, built in 1854. It is officially registered as a protected cultural monument under number S 002 in the monument list of the city of Mönchengladbach since December 4, 1984.

2. Permanent Object: The nomination is for the permanent, historic brick building and its fixed facade inscription (“Brauerei Jöris”). A certified historical monument is 100% permanent and unique.

3. Social & Cultural Value: The building houses a historic traditional brewery-restaurant that serves as a central neighborhood meeting point and is the official headquarters/clubhouse for the traditional carnival association “1. Stadtgarde Mönchengladbach 1998 e.V.”. It perfectly fulfills the “Socialize” and “Explore” core criteria.

4. Safe Access: The entrance area is located on a wide, paved sidewalk with safe pedestrian access.

Please review this case manually and correct the community’s erroneous rejecti

on. Thank you!

Hello and welcome!

I’m afraid community rejections can’t be appealed in this way on this forum. You can appeal it by pressing the “Appeal” button in your Contributions Management page for this nomination and making your statement. If you currently don’t have an appeal button it means you used them all and have to wait for them to refresh (you get 2 every 15 days).

I moved this to Nomination Support in case the community can give suggestions on resubmitting or appealing this. For people to be able to give better support, you may want to share the complete nomination.

Good luck!

You could easily avoid the chalkboard by taking a photograph of the restaurant from around the corner, since this restaurant is on a corner.

This restaurant has 3.9* on google, so is OK but doesn’t stand out by itself. You need to justify it to reviewers. It has “brewery” in the title, but doesn’t appear to be a brewery or a bar. If it is, you need to provide proof in your supporting text.

This was rejected for not being significant, which seems reasonable.
