There’s been a few pokestops I have submitted for removal in the past few months. All of the stops I have submitted the place is no longer there; the building has been demolished. The past few times my recommendation has been rejected and I don’t understand why. What’s the point of having a pokestop for something that no longer exists?
The most recent one was a “mascot” metal creation on a sign for a business that no longer exists, the building has been torn down and condos are now being built in its place so why would it be rejected?
We are hoping they will come up with a way for us to submit evidence with an in game report. Currently, you can use the Wayspot Appeals category to provide more evidence that your report should have been accepted.
I am glad they don’t take removal requests lightly.
Welcome to the forum!
Often Niantic staff will need more information to be confident that something is actually gone. You can post these rejections in the Wayspot Appeal category. This allows you to add pictures and additional context.
…In ingress. Reminder pogo now has a text field.
It still can’t be used to submit photos, right? But agree is a step in the right direction. If I ever used PoGo to report anything.
I guess you could upload something to a service like Imgur and include a link? I haven’t checked if the new additional field accepts links
What I want is to be able to submit removals privately through help chat like we could when they first introduced it. It was easy to submit links and photos that way. The removal forms are the current best option, and even I don’t always want to bother with filling those out.
I guess I should explain why I only submit reports through Ingress, not PoGo. Ingress dynamic links allow a report to be submitted from anywhere, and it is extremely easy to pull up the portal and submit a report that way. I just can’t add additional information there. With PoGo, the report option is grayed out even for something I can see on the map nearby if it is too far.
The most recent one I did see a space to provide more information and I did put in there that the area had been demolished. I’ve checked my appeals section and the removals I’ve submitted that have been rejected don’t show up there, so I haven’t been able to
The removal report acknowledgements and decisions will be in your email. I really want to know if they looked at the extra information!
I think you need to wait until satellite and/or streetview show the absence of the (removed) item.
IOW: I think Niantic reviewers take whatever latest satellite and streetview as current and correct. And they’re playing the long game - it’s ok (to them) to be wrong for a while, knowing Google will eventually catch up, and trusting that someone will report it then.
@CherryRae do you have a recent photo that shows the location?
If you do this could go in the Wayspot Appeals for staff to review.
