So I’ve reported a gym due to the fact that the place where it is located, a parking area between buildings at the edge of a neighbourhood, has become a hangout place for people of the unsavoury kind.
In fact, it has become so bad that I’ve witnessed drug deals happening in that area and experienced a general sense of uneasiness starting late-afternoon and going well into the nigh, it is not a good spot for players, potentially kids, to approach like it has been up until this point.
I have 2 reports rejected so far (written in the local language), how can I get the message across that is it not a safe location anymore?
not every wayspot has to be accessible by every player.
you have to use your own common sense when playing Pokemon Go; the existence of a pokestop or gym does not in itself mean that the location is safe to access or is publicly accessible.
That said, if you can provide evidence of the problems for this location, such as police reports or news articles, that may assist. Without evidence, it is hard for this to be seen as you intend, and it would have to be perceived as just your own opinion.
We looked at the Wayspot again and can confirm that it doesn’t meet our requirements for removal.
If you’re not certain you have the right to access a location or are not certain it is safe to access, please do not make any attempts to do so. As a player or any other member of the community, you must respect access restrictions, never trespass, or in any manner gain or attempt to gain access to any property or location where you do not have the right or permission to be. Please review and follow the Trainer Guidelines at all times while playing Pokémon GO to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone!
While Niantic does encourage all players to abide by local laws, as stated in the game’s Terms of Service and as reiterated through in-game warnings and notifications, we ultimately cannot control or be responsible for how individual users elect to act or behave on their own volition. If players engage in unlawful behavior while playing Pokémon GO, we encourage you to work with local law enforcement to address the issue, as you would with other individuals in your community.
The area itself is public, no one is trespassing anything. The people who hang around said area are not playing Pokémon GO, they’re just loitering, drinking, etc. The parking lot has barely any lights and those who live there have made reports multiple times to the police due the noise that goes well into the night, it lost its feel of safeness months ago.
Players, both adults and kids, visit that area specifically for the Gym, in full view of the people I mentioned above and while the gym right next to it can be accessed from a much safer location, I figured why not move the problematic one to somewhere more open and safe.
That is their choice - no-one is making them do this.
There is unfortunately no hard boundary between a place that most people would feel safe going to and a place where most people would feel unsafe going to, so it would be hard for this to be removed without opening up the idea that wayspots can be removed because individual players feel unsafe going there.
