Report or move location?

Hi there. I recently moved to a neighborhood fortunate to have some really neat walking trails and POIs scattered about. I’ve been adding a few as the trails have been being developed over the last couple of years since these homes were built. There’s one that’s a bit of a headscratcher: One of the trailheads has been moved. It’s not terribly far from the original location (which has been a POI since 2022 from what I can tell), but the picture on the POI no longer matches, you wouldn’t be able to find it by looking at the picture or the spot on the map, unless you are already familiar with the neighborhood and the trails.

If you were in this position, would you 1) report the POI as no longer being there and submit the new one? or 2) say the location has changed and change the photo?

For reference, here’s the POI and the street view. The new trailmarker is down behind the treeline as you go into the woods.

Hello and welcome @porgypanda

So if it has been moved in real life you can request that it is moved.
You can use help chat to do the move.

You can write text to explain, and provide a geotagged photo to evidence the new position.
Separately you can submit a new photo at the pokestop. Once accepted you can :+1: to help make it the cover photo.

The other one looks very mispinned, too.

Unless there is another marker over in those woods somewhere.

You know, I hadn’t even paid attention to that one either. Maybe it was moved too? That marker is right off the sidewalk at the start of the trail. There is one in the woods but further down, next to a little bench, that I actually just submitted separately, but I don’t think it’s the one listed there.

When I moved in, the HOA team said that the trail had been closed for neighborhood construction for about a year but had recently reopened. I’ll give the previous submitter the benefit of the doubt that they were originally in accurate locations… except that I think you can see the exact tree on street view in the OG picture.

That would make sense. You can see the circle of mulch where the one you were asking about used to exist.

Next time I’m over on that trail I’ll doublecheck that marker too and try to refine the tag.
