Hey, folks - This topic is pre-emptive to any actions I’ve taken, as I honestly have no idea how to proceed.
A major portion of my local park was renovated. (yay!)
But now a number of the POIs are in the incorrect place. (boo!)
To add confusion, a number were approved, post-renovation. (yay, again!)
I’ve already tried to “move” some of the POIs, but they were either rejected or the distance was too far to move within the PoGo app. (I could try Ingress, now that I think about it.)
Example 1: a memorial flagpole and plaque was moved by the construction crew, but farther than the app allows one to move. Do I report the memorial block as “permanently gone” and then resubmit it?
Example 2: a sign for the park was also moved, but if I correct it, it’s moved into a neighboring cell with an existing POI. Is it worth the correction?
Example 3: The baseball field was shifted, but as we all know, the POI category of baseball fields is all over the place.
I feel like there’s no efficient way to correct this park, other than nuking the whole thing and resubmitting - but I feel like that would be frowned upon, and may appear as manipulation. Does anyone have ideas?
As this is the exact same object, just relocated. You can use the chat bubble located in Wayfarer in the bottom right corner of the help page.
Thats up to you to decide, but some of of us value a correct datsbase over more pokestops. Id personally be frustrated if i tried to scan a waypoint and couldnt find it. Or if im at the real object in real life but my game didnt match.
Unsure what you mean here. Do you mean pin placement? If so, just ensure the pin is not in the field of play.
We had a playground totally rebuilt and moved about 50 metres. It was still the same name, inside the same park, so I asked help chat to move it.
I took pictures from the (correct) location of another waypoint that was closest to the old location of the playground, showing the new one in the distance and that the old location was now a path and grass.
I figured if that was wrong, help chat wouldnt do the move, but they were happy to move it for me. I also added images of the new equipement to the waypoint
I just meant, people place the pin for baseball fields wherever they think is most accurate. In THIS instance, the pin is quite literally in the “field” of play, about third base. So, per your comment, I should have a good justification to request a move to at least behind the fence behind home base.
