Request to restore the removed Wayspot

When submitting a Wayspot Appeal, make sure to include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Wayspot Title: 吉村診療所 シャッターアート
  • Location (lat/lon): 34.609345, 135.554155
  • City: Osaka
  • Country: Japan
  • Screenshot of the Rejection Email (do not include your personal information): None
  • Additional Information (if any):

Although Google Maps Street View and satellite imagery are not available, you can locate the clinic using information from Google Maps and official website(アクセス・地図 – 医療法人敬寿会吉村診療所).

As for the shutter art, I’ve already posted screenshots of it, but you can also view it on the “Gallery” page of the official website(診療所紹介 – 医療法人敬寿会吉村診療所).

Since this shutter art is located some distance from the main entrance of the Yoshimura Clinic, it is unlikely that explorers visiting this spot would directly cause the clinic’s entrance to become blocked. Furthermore, this location is set back from emergency vehicle routes and key pathways both inside and outside the clinic, and there are no fire hydrants or similar facilities in the vicinity; therefore, overall, it is considered unlikely that it would directly hinder emergency operations or emergency services.

Welcome to the forums

Can you please explain how the clinic meets the core criteria - Social, Exercise, Exploration?

Please have a look at these for understanding what makes a good wayspot.

The wayspot is for the mural, not the clinic

I forgot to translate the title and was just looking at the images :frowning:

Nice to meet you, and welcome to the forum.
Please forgive me, but I was the one who requested that Wayspot be removed. I also thought it looked like lovely shutter art from a new shop after the one coin store closed. However, that location is actually a clinic for psychosomatic medicine and psychiatry. In Japan, We must respect the privacy of patients at the psychosomatic medicine clinic. We cannot feature such places in the game, and Wayspots are sometimes used by pointing a camera at them. I believe this qualifies as a sensitive location that falls under the criteria for rejection.

I was really surprised, but thank you for your reply.
It’s not that I was hiding the fact that Yoshimura Clinic is a psychiatric clinic, but I didn’t realize that was the reason for the removal. I, too, have reservations about applying for and undergoing reviews for such sensitive locations, so I empathize with, agree with, and respect your concern.

However, psychiatric clinics aren’t places with restricted public access, nor are they specifically designated under the “Sensitive” category. Yoshimura Clinic doesn’t even offer daycare services. Above all, consideration is important for any location, so I don’t think the clinic is particularly unsuitable just because it’s a psychiatric clinic.

Furthermore, the official website states that this shutter art/mural is intended to “serve as a place where patients and the community can connect.” To claim that a psychiatric clinic is unsuitable as a place for exploration or similar activities because contact with patients is “sensitive” goes against both the clinic’s stance and the sentiment behind the shutter art/mural, and frankly, I find it deeply regrettable.

However, if my understanding is incorrect and an official statement has been issued declaring that psychiatric clinics are indeed unsuitable, I would appreciate it if someone could point that out to me.
For now, I intend to keep submitting requests.

There is unlikely to be an official statement about psychiatry clinics, as Niantic cannot provide clarification about every type of object in the world.

Reviewers and Niantic staff will be using the general guidelines about sensitive locations.

Thanks for the appeal, @GOGOYUMEME! We have taken another look but stand by our decision to retire this Wayspot.

Okay… It’s a shame, but I’ll accept that decision.

While I myself am someone who visits a psychiatrist, perhaps I’m just insensitive, and such clinics are actually sensitive topics for both the community and Niantic—places where we should avoid causing trouble… It was a good learning experience.

I’d like to express my deepest gratitude to @CrownFeather for submitting the Wayspot report, to the Wayfarer team for their help, and to everyone who welcomed me so warmly on my first forum post.
Thank you very much!
