So the trails here do have markers. There are trail markers that do put them up, mostly elderly guys that want to walk a little and look after these trail markers.
If someone would talk to them, ask them to put some more trail markers ON the trail they would surely ask, why? There are already enough for people to find their orientation (their decision)
Still, they might add one more, wouldnât hurt, and thatâs one more.
Here we are talking about âhow muchâ that were additionally added, solely for the purpose of filling up empty cells? In the end, does that mean anything? Itâs still the trail thatâs marked, leading people walking and playing Pogo on these trails. Is all this conversation about âhow manyâ ? Is there someone that said, okay, there are much too much trail markers that are a pokestop/gym - we need to get rid of them.
Somehow the whole situation isnât clear to me. Personally I donât think that a trail needs a pokestop/Wayspot in every cell that is covering this trail - but does it really matter, if there is one?
I would assume they donât just sell what basically amounts to traffic infrastructure to any Tom, Richard or Harry that owns a sandwich shop. You probably have to have a business that has a provable need for such a product.
And who knows, maybe they outright have a deal with the Noord-Brabant tourism board to not sell the green-and-yellow markers to anyone but them, since those are the official colors of the Noord-Brabant trail network.
And Iâll admit that the stickers donât look like much visually, but the specialness is in the materials. According to the website, theyâre designed to be weatherproof and longlasting. Doesnât sound too easily reproducable.
I might reach out to this business, ask some questions about these markers. If theyâre the ones supplying the Brabant tourism board, if they sell them to anyone else, etcetera.
Does this mean that I am still allowed to submit and appeal markers of this type as long as they are visible on StreetView photos from many years ago, or are they all off the table for now?
Yes, you are. There has been no change to the policy. The issue here is regarding these specific markers.
I can buy a heavy-duty weatherproof sticker for $15 USD with whatever design I want on it.
Iâm not going to go back and forth with you on this. My point is that itâs not where they got the stickers thatâs important, so going down that rabbit hole is completely pointless.
They want evidence that the stickers were placed there by the government organization responsible for putting up those stickers.
This should really be the only step youâre taking right now⌠The fact you arenât is starting to seem suspicious.
I completely agree that anyone could put up a sticker along the trail to get another Wayspot. I also donât think that Niantic should encourage that or enter that territory; I just think the waters get a bit muddy when you have a situation where it is not the objects themselves that are interesting, but what they represent (decision points along an official trail), and you have some objects that represent that which are OK and some objects that represent that which are not OK, based on who put them up, and that the objects that are OK and those that are not are indiscernible from each other. Definitely donât envy the ones who have to make decisions on those.
(I also think itâs perfectly fine that complex situations get muddy, I just think itâs a situation that is fairly interesting).
One: Iâm waiting to see what gets put back first to see if itâs even worth the effort.
Two: Iâm still brainstorming how on Earth Iâm even going to approach the tourism board with this since itâs for sure going to be the most ridiculous request theyâve ever gotten.
Three: Iâm still figuring out how Iâm even going to contact them since the only thing that seemingly lets you send them any kind of message at all on the site is the maintenance report section, and thatâs probably not meant for what Iâm supposed to do.
Four: itâs hardly the most important thing going on in my life. I have a fulltime job and plenty of other things I would rather be spending my free time on.
Understood. How far back is far back enough? My earliest Wayfarer submissions were in November 2019 and Iâm pretty sure I was at the required level on day 1 of the Pokemon Go submission rollout, so is anything thatâs visible on StreetView from before the Pokemon Go Wayfarer rollout fair game?
Iâm glad that several markers from the original list have been restored based on how far back theyâre visible on StreetView, but I have some notes, @NianticAaron .
Not restored, visible as early as March 2019. Not visible on the October 2024 and August 2025 photos. This was one of the two wayspots you restored back in October 2025 after they were removed then, and in that topic I said that I reported this one as missing to the maintenance crew.
This is the message I received from the maintenance crew on October 28th, 2025. Brief translation: âThanks for reporting this. The volunteer in this area has restored marker.â
Not restored, visible as early as March 2019.
Not restored, visible as early as July 2016.
Then there are several marker wayspots that I noticed were missing the day after the first batch, so Iâve taken a look at them as well.

@NianticAaron would these be restorable as well?
I think the most relevant email is info@brabantpartners.com or info@routesinbrabant.nl since they are the ones responsible for installing the routes. You can also use the info form
You could also try
redactie@visitbrabant.nl or info@visitbrabant.nl
@NianticAaron Could you look into restoring the ones I mentioned in post 71?
And thereâs also these three:
Which were recent submissions that were accepted by reviewers as this whole ordeal went on, but they have never appeared in the game and none of them are visible on the Wayfarer map either, so I presume these were removed by Niantic before the Pokemon Go sync ever happened that day.

The marker thatâs in the photo of the submission canât be seen on StreetView due to the angle, but the marker that marks the path when youâre following it in the opposite direction and is on the same streetlight can be seen on StreetView as far back as June 2014.

Wayspot Title: Wandelroutemarker Dr. Cuyperslaan

This one is harder to spot due to the pole being fairly far away from the StreetView photos, but there seems to be something green-and-yellow thatâs consistently present on the pole in photos from as far back as 2014 and 2016.
If there is no response, should I just start resubmitting these? @NianticAaron said the ones that have been present on StreetView for long durations are considered legitimate enough to restore.
And I have shown with old StreetView photos that the markers I mentioned in posts 71 and 73 have indeed been present for long durations. So by that logic, they should be restored.
Iâve waited long enough. There is not going to be any response, so Iâm just going to resubmit them.
