Hi Guys,
I just want to ensure I’m reviewing correctly when it comes to supporting photos.
If the submitted photo is fine but the supporting photo has people, cars etc in it would that go down as a rejection based upon bad photo? Or as long as the submitted photo meets the criteria the supporting photo doesn’t get reviewed in the same way?
The latter.
Supporting photos are only to help with the review, and aren’t subject to the same criteria
The supporting photo can have people, cars and animals (etc). The only issue might come if there is something suspicious, such as a very prominent person at the foreground.
The supporting photo should show the context including the POI itself. Sometimes people forget to include the POI in the supporting photo and sometimes they deliberately don’t because the wayspot is false or the location false. if the POI is not visible in the supporting photo, I take extra care when reviewing.
Thank you so that’s an excellent point if the POI is not visible in the supporting photo under what criteria would I make it down as a rejection?
It is not a rejection. It is a potential cause for concern!
It is not mandatory to include the POI in the supporting photo, but it is extremely sensible to do this.
Streetview (and apple equivalent) and aerial images can be used to confirm location and should be used even if the supporting photo includes the POI. I am suspicious of every submission at the outset, because with LLMs it is possible to create very convincing submissions.
Hello and welcome @Ashcatchumall
Thanks for asking the question.
When you are reviewing it is the main photo, title and description that needs to be meeting criteria to a “ good enough” standard.
Small mistakes in the text are ok as long as it is accurate.
The supplementary photo and text should help you check location and understand more about how the wayspot meets criteria.
People in the supplementary actually might show that this a popular cafe for example. But they shouldn’t have people that look “posset” for the picture. Same applies to bikes or dogs etc……things that might make you think this is trying to indicate who the person submitting is.
These are AI Generated so definite Reject but created just to show the point…
This should be OK…
This should be a Reject
Would be easy to ask friends / local community “If you see Mabel in the supplemental it’s one of mine so Accept”…
Hope this helps…
