Hi all!
I often come across nominations from another city. Among them I constantly see nominations for cafes, restaurants and other establishments. However, I know that in this city, not only are there a lot of different establishments (there may be 5 cafes in one multi-story building), but these establishments also do not exist for long. For example, while I was evaluating the nomination, I saw a completely different establishment in Google panoramas.
Now let’s get back to the topic.
Can the number of reviews and the rating of an establishment be used as a guide when reviewing nominations? Because I understand that about 90% of these establishments are regular businesses and will probably close in 2-3 years. In my opinion, the quantity and quality of reviews can be a tool for filtering out ordinary businesses from truly significant and popular establishments. Because it is impossible to say for sure that a given establishment is temporary or unpopular without sufficient information about the establishment.
Like with all nominations, you have to use your best judgment. So, if you don’t feel that the business is distinct enough from the info provided, as well as what you find online like reviews, you can reject it.
I tend to only nominate non-generic businesses like cafes and restaurants if they are well established in the community. For example, I submitted the diner near me, as it’s been open for over 40 years, is owned by a local woman, and know for their homemade meals and desserts. They have quite a dedicated customer base, so I don’t think they’ll be closing any time soon.
I didn’t nominate the new Mexican restaurant that opened a few months ago, as I didn’t feel it was well established in the community yet, and other restaurants in that building had closed within a few months. Someone else did, and it was approved, but I would have waited a little longer. It does seem to be a popular place, but I haven’t eaten there, so I can’t say for sure.

I like your judgment. The problem is that in this city players are only interested in the quantity of wayspots, not in their quality. And there are many more players in this city than in the nearest neighboring cities (the largest city in the country). In the end, their nominations are accepted. Do I have the right to apply for the removal of such Wayspots and what evidence can I provide?
There are only certain reasons that a Wayspot can be removed, and not being a distinct enough business is not one of them. Now, if the business closes, you can request removal, which is something I do quite often if something doesn’t exist anymore in the real world.
Believe me, I would love to have some of the generic chain restaurants that aren’t sponsored Wayspots removed, but they don’t currently meet removal criteria.
